I think I remember the word from an old "Men At Work" song, but have seen it several times recently here on Answers. Can you satisfy my curiosity?

A dark brown, salty food paste made from yeast extract, mainly used as a spread on sandwiches and toast, though occasionally used in cooking. It is popular in Australia and New Zealand and is known as one of Australia's national foods.

Nasty stuff they eat in Australia for hangovers. Salty and you spread it on bread or crackers. High is some vitamens like D lost during drinking.

vegemite made by KRAFT..., yeast exstract spread. Healthy and delicious.
