Not forever, but we should definitely close them for awhile, at least until we can come together as a nation and fix our ills internally. We are a strong nation, one that has benefited from every culture and we are a nation of immigrants, but the time has come for us to be one. No longer should we be italian-americans, mexican americans, african americans, we should be americans plain and simple. If, in order to accomplish this, we should need to close the borders, than by all means necessary should we do this. Let the rest of the world fix their own problems for a time, we will still have our presence throughout the world, but we will only be stronger in the long run. I don't care where you come from, its time for some damn pride in our country. I am stuck in iraq now, as a soldier, fighting for our rights, not only as americans, but as free human beings who desire to live strong and not oppressed, whether it be by illegal immigrants making us weak, or terrorists trying to make us live in fear.

I don't think anyone is stating that to happen. All anyone really wants is the borders closed to those that wish to break the law and enter our country illegally.

Yes - our country is made up on different cultures. But how can you expect us to just allow everyone to flood in at their whim to "make a better life", and use up all of the resources they don't pay for to survive? I don't get how being poor in one country will not make you poor in another. If you enter the US with nothing, how are you going to get anything? If you come in illegally, how are you supposed to get housing, have income, and all of that? Breaking the law isn't the answer. Reform is. If you don't like the laws, change them - don't encourage others to break them. It makes you no better than any other criminal.

Obama has yet to do some thing we may be able to question him for. i imagine Obama is doing the great he can for a diverse usa, in spite of the undeniable fact that there are a selection of crooks on his fringe of the political spectrum. contained in the country, political social gathering isn't meant to matter--using human being rights. till we fix human being rights and ideal grievance approaches, we would want to be careful.

No, but the borders should be sealed to protect against illegals. People who come here legally tend to want to assimilate for the most part. Illegals have no reason to.

Off topic amendment - Mike Dub, were you a "Comet?" I knew someone with your name so if you're him you'd know what I mean. If not, I'm just talking crazy talk.

Yes of course! But what culture? The amalgamation of the cultures brought by Europeans in the 17-19th centuries? When those people (i.e the Irish, Italians, Germans, Poles et al) came, the Statue of Liberty stood to welcome them. isn't it?

And today, when Asians and Hispanics wish to come to the land of opportunity to find and realize their American Dream, what do they get? they called "sp**c" and "chink" and get told "get the hell outta my country!". Your country?
You stole it from the Red Man and destroyed his soul with hard liquor. There's some heritage and legacy that has not been "preserved".

Again you have one eye open , the other one winking . That is a very stupid and leading question. We want our borders protected not closed. We want people to obey our laws, not hide behind our liberty. We want our country to be for one from many, not many different societies. "Be American live American speak American, or bye bye" !!!!
