I have many close friends that have been to Iraq. One of them told me that once they're there, all the poltical matters goes out the window.(Black Hawk Down mentions that too) It's all about taking care of yourself and your soldiers

It depends on what he is doing that day and what kind of unit he is attached to. I know that Medics see allot of messed up stuff but they also have more rewarding job of saving lives. I think that you should ask him what it is like to get him to talk to you. IF he says he won't then don't pester him but occasionally ask him how he is what he is doing etc. Be prepared to hear him talk about some tough things, and stuff that you won't even be able to relate to.

And to all the Jerks here that want to politicize this persons question to shut the hell up.

Damn, there are some nasty, ignorant people posting here. Why don't you high schoolers calm the f*ck down and try actually learning for yourselves rather than regurgitating bile and vitriol from the liberal wackos running wild in the US media? All you do is distinguish yourselves as idiots when you post crap like what I see about killing civilians for oil and whatnot. You are contemptible.

On to your question. It's tough to say what a normal day for a medic/corpsman would be. Is he working at a Troop Medical Clinic or is he humping with the grunts? Is he up front or in the rear with the gear? A typical day might be handing out ibuprofen on the FOB or it might be strapping on all his equipment and doing dismounted presence patrols in the local area. Maybe he gets out occasionally on the civil affairs visits where they do "clinics" for the local people, checking children and giving immunizations.

In short, there really is no "normal day" to speak of.

dont listen to MARK! he's a little gay kid! he's never been to Iraq and neither have i so thats why im not gonna try to guess what they do over there or criticize our soldiers as he did! i had a friend who went to Afganistan not Iraq! he said they just woke up, ran, exercised, ate, and did some patroling! he said it was really boring over there! he said that most of the time they were just trying to find something to do to waste time!

Dont worry your soldier is over there taking care of himself and his commrades and he's training, hydrating, eating, hydrating some more, and training. You dont have to be afraid to ask him about his days over there. It might actually help him to get any gripes off his chest. good luck to you and your marine!
