The big deal with prophecies is verification of truth. As it says in Deuteronomy 13 and 18, if a prophecy does not come to pass, then you know that the person is a false prophet.

Yeah! I don't want to know when the world ends cause I'll be long dead by then anyway! I'd rather concern myself with the present, and enjoy the moments of my stay in this universe. Life is too short to worry about what I can no longer witness in this lifetime!

It may be called the end times but it is not the end, it really is the beginning of Christ's 1000 year reign on earth to show us how it should have been done. Just look upon it as further educatrion since we don't know it all.
Time to look up, not to look down.

Well I really don't want to know, but it will be hilarious to watch how many people start getting religious when they see WW III coming. Because the Bible has prophesied it, it will make at lot of people concerned.

When I was very young, I remember my parents listening to the radio (we had no tv). One program they regularly listened to was a show that claimed the bible proved the "end is near" and also claimed the rapture was imminent.
That was nearly 60 years ago, the host & my parents are dead and I have yet to see the "end times."
But, it apparently helps sell snake oil to morons, so why not?

What we are really concerned with is not so much the actual date, but looking at these signs to see if it means he is coming back soon. And also if he's not, how to prepare for the coming days ahead.

Seeing as none of the past Biblical prophecies have actually come to fruition, I'm not too worried.

And it seems a tad specious that we are going to wait until the last minute to be good before God shows up.

prophecies were not meant to fortell the future ...they are meant to be fulfilled ... so your observation is legitamate, however for those that are learned in the prophecies it can bring joy to see the signs of the times and it gives us hope.
