down to earth is the kind of person who is not arrogant or self important you can easily get along with him or her because he or she has a reasonable outlook on life and does not consider himself or herself any more special than any one else the opposite is someone who thinks he or she is a star that is high above everyone on earth or the person with dreamy ideas whose head is in the clouds down to earth people make good conversation and are good friends

down to earth means you're not over in left field somewhere when everyone left the ball park. you're reasonable and right on things. you're question was nice, short and to the point. that's part of being down to earth.
