I subscribe to Time, for now, and I read the article you are speaking of. Time does have a discernible slant to the left, so unless you are able to just take something at face value as the truth because it's in the media, then you have to figure that into what you decide for yourself. That applies to any media source, conservative, liberal or whatever. There are obviously those who WANT the Iraq war to end badly because of their hatred for the Bush administration, and alot of them are media mouthpieces. There are alot of people who refuse to see that the US military effort in Iraq is teetering on the verge of being swallowed up by a civil war there. The insurgency is losing people at an incredible rate, and that is not sustainable forever, but the American people are not going to wait for it to end. This whole middle East conflict is like a tinderbox, and I don't know how it's going to play out. I don't belive for a minute that we are ever going to get the truth from any political party, Republican or Democrat. I don't like everything that the Bush administration is doing, but the thought of a Democrat getting into office and trying to handle the terrorist problems we face today is truly scary. If they really believe that we can just lay down our arms and talk to these people and resolve the issues, then they are truly FOOLS.
Sorry for the sermon, but I feel better. The long and short of it is, it's going to take a long time to deal with the Middle East, and we need to get Iraq able to stand on it's own feet now that we are there, and get the hell out as soon as we possibly can, because there are other fights on the horizon that are probably unavoidable.

Truly this is NOT a political argument. Most Americans knew before this war in Iraq was started that: 1. Our efforts needed to be in Afghanistan. 2.We also knew that civil war in Iraq was the inevitable result of American interference and Iraq was not associated with Osama Bin Laden. Now, every American knows that militarily we are so stretched in Iraq, Iran can now flex it muscles in the middle east and North Korea can be as menacing as it wants......the USA can't do a darn thing about any of it across the globe and we only made it worse by going into Iraq.......................what a mess for all mankind!!

Yes! History is repeating itself again...President Lydon Johnson understand this all too well when the Vietnam war became unpopular after the Tet Offense. He had to apply real politick, which means a realistic view of looking at politics and how it relates to foreign policy rather than believing a utopian vision would fix the problem. It is time Bush opted to use real politick as well and leave Iraq.

yes, it is the truth. In the end Iran will control Iraq no matter what we do. Iraq is in civil war now and that will never end. Both sides want control of the land and oil wealth . We could stop the civil war and the killing, all we need to do is take the oil.

Bush is pushing Religious Democracy. This means that if you want to go in and teach them your religion no one can stop you, cut your head off or anything else(legally).
If you want to push a Religious message then it is not a lost cause because even at this point the law that says that Yahweh can not be published or written is no longer valid.
Look at this site: http://lastdayswarning.clearwire.net/ it says that Sept. 12, 2006 will be the start of nuclear war, not the end of the world, but nuclear war.
Remember Hiroshima!!!!

It's not quite true - the war is getting worse.
Many more soldiers will die before the coalition forces retreat under a different president.
Bush does not have the courage to do that because it would brand him foreever as a failure.
He would rather see coffins coming home.

I do not about Time Magazine, but as for me as a Vietnam Veteran, we should never have gotten involved. That part of the world has been in a state of turmoil for generations, and will continue to be so.
