There is no such thing as a "free" kitten. They MUST have the basic series of kitten shots and be "fixed". They need to have the tests to rule out feline leukemia or feline immune deficiency. Plus, if you are going to let them outside eventually you have to be prepared for BIG vet bills if they are injured.

So, yes, your kitten would love to have a kitten playmate and if your family can take on the expense of another that would be wonderful.

If not, then he will get over it and you will have to be his playmate. I know you will love him, cuddle him and be responsible for his health and welfare. He may have some distress right now. All young animals may have to go through this and it will not stunt him emotionally for all his life. Most cats love to be "top dog" in a household when they are older, getting all the food, all the love, all the attention. So he may have a bright future ahead.

I had one cat for 20 years & he never seemed lonely. However, if I had to leave him alone for a long period of time, I always felt guilty. Now I have a new kitten (my 20 yr old recently passed away) & I hear that cats like to have a kitty friend so I'm getting another cat soon. I hear it's easier if you get 2 kittens rather than a kitten & an older cat, though.

My cat did the same thing, he would just walk around the house and cry and cry. We finally got him a friend and the crying stopped. It sounds like your kitty is going through the same thing, I think getting him a friend will help.

i think you should, if you can take care of it. cats like company sometimes and it might be nice for you too. make sure you new cat is the oppisite gender from your old cat , and neutered or spayed because it helps with territorial issues. it may take a while for them to get along but in the end im sure it will be worth it!!

Yes, yes, yes!!!

Cats are naturally sociable creatures and most prefer company of their own kind, especially young ones who haven't developed into loners through enforced social isolation.

Two are better than one for you, too. You get twice the entertainment and twice the love.

If two cats do not tax the home...sure bring one of his littermates in. Then he will always have a playmate. But he still needs a lot of attention from you too.

Oh God NO!

Ever heard of sibling rivalry? Cats get it worse than Humans! Worse yet, cats have no problem with incest. You could be covered in cats in a few years! Stick with one. The cat will be happier, and so will you.
