Is the cost? The time it takes? The hassle?

I mean they do have the opportunity to do it legally. Just wondering why they don't.

Simple. They are not interested in becoming citizens. They want the freebies to "have a better life."

Hence, they are not assimulating. They aren't even coming here to obey the laws.

They don't give a **** about the laws. They want whats best for them.. and them only! They could careless about anyone else-- as long as they get what they want, which is never enough, they'll be happy.

This cannot be, so they get mad, and have rallies protesting the American government-- a right that they don't have.

I don't think cost, the time it takes or the hassle has a lot to do with a Hispanic becoming legal in the U.S.A. The people are not educated a lot in their own Country and none in ours, when they get to the U.S.A., and the Education and Knowledge of becoming legal is pretty much Greek to these people. Like I said earlier, in an answer, they do not bother to get their Driver's License nor a Social Security Card; which means they're not paying taxes; so why should they hurry themselves to become legal here. If we were in their shoes with very little education from our country and came to the U.S.A., with no knowledge of what is going on or what needs to be done; do you think we'd be in a big hurry to get to the Naturalization Office, especially with no knowledge of what we had to do; thinking in the back of our head, that we might be deported for trying to be legalized? Put ourselves in their position and actually, we still don't know the correct answer, do we?

Compared to where they come from and the hard life they lived there, all the hard ship and suffering they've endured......well...doing things legal should be a piece of cake for them...if they truly want to be Americans anyway. My answer....they don't want to be American and have no intention of ever being American. Their plan is to take over this country. Read about Mecha and La Raza and all those others. For the illegals, Mexican especially, the only reason they don't is because it doesn't serve their purpose. It's sad that American people are supporting this movement based on some moral, virtuous conscience that jeopardizes our nation.

I can't wait--It is too hard--they won't let me-I'm poor--ect

Life can be tough-learn to live with what you got and do the best you can do with it. Many people all over the world want something different than what they have. They don't all break the law to get it. Some keep their values.

There isn't room for them all. We limit how many poor people can come because poor people take much, much more out in education and other services than they pay in taxes. It is a losing proposition for us and strains our services for our own people. Because it is such a good deal for the poor immigrants we do let come, the line is long.

Those who came illegally felt the line shouldn't apply to them, and that they should be able to get the services we pay for at the expense of our people who need them.

That does not endear them to us.

Mexicans are at the end of the line, it is harder and alot longer for them to go through the process. While the others from Europe, Peru, Columbia, Etc.... have ample opportunity to go through the steps and get visas, residency. That's just the way it is, and alot of people don't have the time to wait to help their families.

Because they can come here without penalty, have somewhere to live, something to eat and there are no consequences to them being here.

For those who are over 21, when you were 16,17, why did most of you drink? Because you could get away with it.

For thieves like the (fill in the blank) at Enron, World Com, etc, why did they steal, because they could get away with it.

Human nature is to take the path of least resistance.

Because they are friggin' lazy dirtbags looking for a handout. Why do it legally when it's soooo easy to do it illegally?

We have immigration laws and they could come legally but it would take a very long time and they would need to file paperwork. (meaning they either need to know how to read or they need to hire a lawyer and they probably aren't capably of doing either).
