All the laws in the Mosiac Law covenant were given only to the Israelites and were to be a tutor for them which would lead them up to the point where they would know for a fact that they needed a savior to redeem them from the effects of their sin (which was death). The principles found in these laws help us to understand not only what is the best course for a person to follow in his life but also the kind of person God really is. For that reason, they are still relevent but we (including the Israelites today) are no longer bound by these laws the way that the ancient Israelites were. The commands which were given to us by Jesus are very important for us to follow, yet even these laws are not the way that a true Christian can find salvation (although again they can be very helpful). The important thing now is to put God first in our lives, accept the sacrifice of Jesus' perfect human life as the attonement for our sins and try to do our very best to live according to God's standards and instructions.

Jesus believed that the Old Testament was divinely inspired, the veritable Word of God. He said, "The Scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35). He referred to Scripture as "the commandment of God" (Matthew 15:3) and as the "Word of God" (Matthew 15:6). He also indicated that it was indestructible: "Until Heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the law, until all is accomplished" (Matthew 5:18). Notice that he mentions even the words and letters!

So yes, they're all in effect according to Jesus

The laws in the Old Testament that should no longer be followed are those that had to do with the sacrificial system put in place by God to illustrate God's the plan of salvation and point the people forward to when Christ the Lamb of God would be sacrificed to take away the sins of all humans in the world going back in time to Adam and Eve and forward in time until the close of probation just before Jesus returns to this earth to take His followers home with him to heaven. At the time that Christ died on the cross the curtain dividing the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place in the temple in Jerusalem was torn from top to bottom by unseen hands, which indicates the sacrificial system was no longer to be practiced. Also the Jews had a lot of laws like any country has. These were designed by God, but are civic laws and do not necessarily apply to other cultures or nations, although we have similar laws today. They were not spiritual laws and not meant to apply exactly in today's world. These laws were in the book of Moses and were kept on the outside of the Ark of the Covenant. The 10 commandment laws were kept inside the Ark indicating their permanence for all time.

These "laws" are still practiced within certain denominations of Christianity. There are many Christians who do not eat pork as it was considered unholy in the Old Testament to consume. Other practices include make-up (markings on body was a sin), attire (women must be covered, so long skirts and no pants), and jewelry.

no...that's why we have the new testament. The old testament shows why we need the new testament and Jesus. And all the 10 commandments are centered around the 2 commandments of jesus ie: love God and love people

I believe the New Testament says a 'veil' was put over the old Testament, meaning those laws no longer applied...

There's actually over 600 laws that form Jewish law in the bible, of which the 10 commandments is only 10. Also, it should be noted that there are two different versions of the 10 commendments in the Torah (First five books of the Holy Bible). Which version are you refering too?

For Christians, Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses.

We are no longer held to the laws of dietary purity and temple worship.

The moral teachings are however eternal.

Thus the Ten Commandments and other moral law are still followed even though we have changed the Sabbath (Saturday) to the Lord's Day (Sunday).

Then Jesus took the moral teachings to the next level.

Adultery now includes just lusting after another's spouse.

Loving your neighbor is an old commandment. But Jesus took the next step and said everyone is our neighbor including our enemies.

With love in Christ.

Under the levitical Priesthood, the desire for Israel was for her to be a "Theocracy." There were ceremonial laws, administrative laws, agricultural laws, laws of taxation, marriage laws, moral laws and civic laws initially 613 laws in all (Mishna). However, Israel asked for a king like other nations and God granted them kings and priests, so that even before the new covenant of Jeremiah 31:31 became applicable, the revised priesthood inherited the spiritual tasks-The Torah Laws and Judah was responsible for adminstration and civic laws.
The agricultural laws are still used by farmers worldwide, especially those in Switzerland.
