Not entirely true. If you give your cat "human" food. Make sure it is 100 % (or very close to it) protein. In other words, all meat and no spices. Tuna in water is good. Fresh Cod makes my cat happy.
Most people don't know this, but cat food is about 80% protein, 10% fat, and 10% ash. That's right ASH (garbage charcoal). Ash is a filler to keep the costs down. Cats prefer the 100% meat diet. I treat my cat whenever he has been good to fresh fish. I have raised my cat to be a "mouser". I find it disgusting when he eats them, so I reward him with a tasty fresh fish when he doesn't eat them. He will now kill a mouse and bring it to me to throw away so that he can get his fish.

No.. human food does not cause diarrhea... BUT, at the same time, human food should not be fed to animals as it does not contain the nutrients, etc that an animal needs.. Sometimes I wonder if humans should eat human food

Chem Man has a very cool idea. About subing fish for mouse I mean.
My cat loves chicken. He gets only the meat. No skin or bones, cause of fat and splintering of chicken bones. And he loves tuna and imitation crab. (But crab only in tiny amounts, cause of fat content in some brands)
But if it became his whole diet that would be bad.
As to the diarrhea, if it was too fatty or just carb or spicy, then yes it would cause it. If you fed him straight protein then no. Look for something else going on in that case.
