I am installing SP2 on a friends computer, and it seems to be stuck on the "Performing Cleanup" which is the last thing it does before finishing, What do I do?

it has been in the same spot for 90 minutes now

Did you temporarily disable your pop-up blocker so you can see if there are any messages?

Have you tried Control+Alt+Del to open the Task Manager? It may show you what is supposed to be running. There might be something you can close to free up memory.

90 Minutes is a long time for cleanup. When is the last time you did a defrag?

Strongly suggest next time, when everything is running smoothly, you set a system restore date. Then, when you install something new, if it messes up, you can go back to a better time.

Is the installed XP legit? SP2 won't install on some pirated copies.
