A good book I would recommend is the Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfeild it is an awesome book about the courage of 300 Spartans During the Battle of Thermopylae. It is on the commandant of the Marine Corps reading list. Another good book by that same author is The Virtues of War. That one is about Alexander the Great. I would go with anything that you think he might enjoy. you can send them through Amazon, they ship to APO addresses

I sent my husband a book by the Dahli Lhama. He really enjoyed it and when he was down, it would give him a positive outlook.
Don't send Playboy. It's not allowed in Iraq.
