My Hamburger Helper always gets chopped onions, These go into the pan at the same time as the burger browns,
One particular type of H.H., I like is the Oriental rice and I absolutely go wild putting in soy sauce, shitake mushrooms, green onions and water chestnuts. Hamburger Helper is a staple in most kitchens across America. And for the cooking challenged this is the best stuff to hone some cooking / kitchen skills, just by following the box instructions. Also, look on the box for alternative ingredients and amounts that can vary the box variety.

My favorite hound dog helper is 4 cheese lasagna. I usually add some mozzarella to it. I haven't done it but I bet black olives would be good too.
I really don't miss the separate toppings because I would add everything together to begin with. If I'm cooking the real thing I take a lot of time with it. When I'm cooking with hound dog helper I'm usually in a hurry.

Never ever had Hamburger Helper, but I must say after reading all of these answers that I might actually have to try the cheeseburger macaroni.
I could give it to my grands for lunch :) with some applesauce and greenbeans. They would love that!

I like cheeseburger macaroni. I add sauteed onions and mushrooms then I sprinkle extra cheese on top and pop it in the oven a few minutes. Mmmm.

A really good idea is to take the "Cheesy Enchilada" one, make it as directed, and serve it as a dip for tortilla chips with some sour cream on the side. Excellent.
