Every day, especially at night, my body breaks out itching. Both legs, buttocks, back, feet, and shoulders.. I think it may be hives, but I am not sure. After scratching, I get swollen lines of the path in which I scratched, and then it swells like crazy. Goes away in about an hour... I have tried antihistamines, but they only give me temp. relief. This has been going on for about two months now. I constantly wash my sheets and covers, my clothes, and anything that can be washed. I don't know what this is, but it is driving me crazy.

Giggling Willow is correct. My first step if I were you would be to make an appointment with my doctor to take a look at liver function tests. If you drink alcohol, now would be a good time to stop. If you have noticed any swelling in your abdomen, feet or ankles you need to get this looked at soon. Liver failure often presents early with pruritis so make sure you take it seriously.

I'd consult a doctor about the itching to see if they could pin point what it is. A couple of years ago I lived on a farm that used bore water as their main water supply and due to the high levels of minerals in the water I used to get a rash all over so I changed to unscented soap and a good moisteriser that was unscented also and it works wonders. Because scented products further aggrevate the problem. Have you changed your washing detergent also this may be causing problems.

Have you switched laundry detergent in the past two months? Sometimes that can be the case, which happens very often especially if you have sensitive skin. Also, if you've been working around fiberglass, you could have the same reaction as well. You can find good remedies for both online. Hope this helps!!

I say take some very sticky tape ( like duct tape) and attach it to your bed so the sticky side is out in the air as well and check it in the morning. You are looking for bedbugs. They come out at night and are making a big come back all over the us. Just do a yahoo search and you will see the articles.

Some people are allergic to "dust mite" microscopic organism that live mostly in your mattress, beds and covers. Even if you wash your sheets, its not enough to get rid of them. You need to buy a special cover for your mattress, pillows and covers. You can be tested for this type of allergy, contact an allergist. In addition, vaccuum adn dust you home, specially your bedroom often.

have you been tested for liver disease, kidney disease?

sounds like if the antihistmines aren't doing it for you, it could be the above.

good luck
