You can have her spayed at any time. However, I , and most vets, suggest that you wait until they have their first heat cycle. The first heat cycle is when their mammory glads mature and this is an important stage in growing and maturing. She should have her first heat cycle by the time she is 8 months old. Normal is 4 to 8 months. Good Luck

A female dog will go into heat for the first time anywhere between 6 months of age, and 2 years of age.

It depends on the breed - smaller dogs can go in as early as 6 months, but some large breeds don't come in the first time till they're a year old.
You shouldn't wait to get her spayed. Spaying is not major surgery - you'll only delay your dog's training for a few days. She's only 5 months old and not ready for any major training yet anyway.

She has her first heat around ever 6 months. I got my dog when she was 2 years old alot of ppl will recommand getting them fixed once they are fully grow to make sure there are no problems. The time they become fixed depends on the breed of dog.

They go into heat about 6 months old. If she goes into heat before you get her fixed, you might end up with puppies. My Vet said that if I was thinking about getting my dog fixed I should probably go ahead and get her fixed. It wold have cos me more if I had waited, (She is a large breed dog)

My schnauzer had her first heat around 6 months. I would say between 5-7 months is the norm.

usually about six months is when it happens. I would recommend getting her spayed before then.
She will recover a lot faster than you realize. Besides, your dog's health should have nothing to do with enjoying your summer or fall. You will have more summers than years with your dog.

larger breeds sometimes take longer. my german shepherd was 9 months old when she came into heat. I liked to wait until their brains were a little more developed before. otherwise you might have a stupid puppy forever. guide dogs are trained first before they are spayed. they wait until they are more mentally mature.
