People might call it a miniature Doberman, but they would be wrong. There is no such breed. It's called a miniature Pinscher, and it's not a Doberman because it has nothing to do with Dobermans. The miniature Pinscher is actually an older breed. It is a cross with the old, extinct German Pinscher dog, the dachshund, the Italian greyhound, and the Manchester terrier.

Yes and no. There is a dog breed that people sometimes mistakenly call a miniature Doberman, but there is technically no such thing. A Doberman Pinscher is one breed of pinscher, as is a Miniature Pinscher (a.k.a. min pin or min-pin.) They look a lot alike -- except for size, of course -- but if you're going to look up any info on these dogs, you need to look under the correct name. A friend of mine has a min pin; I once made the mistake of asking if this dog was a miniature Doberman. Ooops.

NO...there is a miniature Pincher..that resembles a doberman..but they are NOT related. Good luck
AKC SITE
The Miniature Pinscher, or Min Pin, is a small, short-coated, compact breed belonging to the Toy Group. Allowed colors for Min Pins include Red, Stag-Red, Black and Rust/Tan, and Chocolate and Rust/Tan. Despite their similar appearance, Miniature Pinschers are not bred-down miniature Doberman Pinschers. In fact, the Miniature Pinscher predates the Doberman by many years. Min Pins are alert, active, fearless, and naturally inquisitive. When moving, they are further distinguished by their unique "hackney-like" gait. A big dog in a small dog package, they have deservedly earned the title, "The King Of Toys".

Yes, I think they are cuter than the big ones. A guy I ran into at Petco had one.

Yes, my brother owns one. They are a bit bad tempered with strangers, but they are very friendly and loyal to their owners.
