He is given a pd when Arrested.He need not answer any questions until he sees the lawyer. The next meeting may be only a status conference. Often there is a plea bargain thrown out at this time. If he isn't Guilty, I'd fight it. This "no choice" stuff isn't entirely true. You are the "victim", your rights will be outlined to you. One is to have charges dropped--this is under "fair treatment". You don't have to testify. The only "evidence" are bruises. Did they take pictures? If not, it's only hearsay of what cops "saw". That 5 months delay sounds fishy. Sure you are telling all the facts? They aren't supposed to take that long. When they got "evidence" they were to Move. Another point you may bring up to his PD.I'm sure there are statues regarding this. Get you and PD to try to Reason with DA. Say how the case will fall apart in court if no "evidence" and you won't testify against him. He may see a lost cause and drop it. At worst, threaten to go to media if DA won't cooperate. Sneak a tape recorder into meeting, trick him into a physical threat. They have big Egos (and, wallets--!) , they Do get angry. (In many states, taping if one party knows of it--you--is legal and admissible in court). Still stubborn? Call TV stations, say how can this be a "victim's rights" state if your rights were Denied? Don't believe those out there who will i invariably say "nothing you can do, State charges". My lawyer says otherwise. A woman was Crying in court Fri, wanted to see her husband. Similar case, "D/V" with "state-generated" charges, Not hers. Turns out, my lawyer said, Judge Can't deny victim right to see him; only the defendant to see Her. She isn't on trial... The reason some states have S/G charges is often the hubby will threaten wifie if she presses charges. S/G eliminates this hazard. But, this Isn't Your Case.

ANY man who hits a woman, especially one he is supposed to love??....is not a man. He's a coward. Don't worry yourself one bit about him. He's in jail now...so here's my suggestion. Forget about him. With any luck, he's in jail being someone else's *****. Go find yourself a real man. One who will treat you like a queen, not like a dog who sh!t on the floor.

Dump him. He doesn't care about you. If he's hit you once, he will do it agian. Have some self esteem and find yourself a guy that will treat you like you deserve. There are plenty of men out there.
