My boyfriend has hernia and I have noticed that his breath has an odd smell. Almost of rot or something. It's bearable, but sometimes it very strong. I haven't said anything, cause I was hoping it would go away. He brushes and is very clean, so it doesn't make sense? Just curious, and will it go away?

Where is his hernia ?

The hernia has nothing to do with his bad smelling breath. This problem is probably caused by bacteria on his tongue, bad teeth or problems with his stomach.

The hernia could give him some problems later on, therefore he should consider visiting a doctor to repair his hernia.

Someone can have bad breath if they are so "backed up" that their breath smells like feces. Hopefully this isn't the case. If it is, he has a blockage. Otherwise, some people just have bad breath. Tell him to see a dentist about it. Until then, offer him a mint!!

A hernia has nothing to do with his breath. He just needs to brush his teeth more, gargle mouth wash and chew gum.
