Obviously, you are a masochist and enjoy mentally abusing yourself.
Maybe you should accept yourself for who you are and stop trying to please your imaginary friend.

First, you have to realize just like I and every other christian has to realize is that we are all sinners and we cannot do this on our own. It is a fact you will sin, and sometimes more than once with the same sin, as long as you continue to ask forgiveness and truly strive to not commit the sins again and again, God will forgive you. This is part of the wonder of God's mercy, He gave his son so that we can come to him through his son to ask forgiveness of our sins. (Isnt that wonderful) I am currently being mentored by my Pastor so that I can take the youth group and many times I have asked myself the question, How can I be a youth minister when I sin almost daily? As I am finding I am also human and will sin. As I pray for forgiveness I also ask that God will assist me in not committing the same sins again. And here is some hope for you. God has done that with me many times I start to get into a position where I can sin or make a better choice not to, and I get what I call a nudge from God. Where I am more aware of the choice at hand and then I can choose not to do the sin. So with that keep strong and persistant in your prayers and also stay in God's word which will help dramatically. God Bless you and Keep you.

That is a problem that even the Apostles had. I do what I do not want to do and what I want to do I do not do. YOu get the picture. You need to pray daily and even during the day as well as read your bible daily, even twice a day or more. Pray with your whole heart and you will get the victory. There have been many that have gone before you with the same problem so stay closer to God and He will help you overcome it. Stay away from the source of your sin. Like if it were stealing a candy bar from a store, you should stay clear of the store. That way you have an easier time not doing the sin. Just stay clear of the thing you are doing to sin and it will be easier to overcome it. And pray without ceasing.

Before you were a Christian you sinned and probably did not think much of it, I know I did! Now that I am a Christian and I sin, like you, I am convicted by the Holy Spirit for committing the sin. It shows that you are aware of your sin and you are trying to overcome it. I ask daily for the forgiveness of my sins because I can never go through a single day without sinning. Think about it, do you keep all the commandments every day? How about obeying all the laws of your country, state city? When you don't you are sinning. But being saved means your sins were washed away by the Cross! Hope this helps!
God Bless

We all naturally sin because we are the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. It's in our nature to sin. When you become a Christian, your sins are forgiven, the ones you have done in the past and the ones you will do today and tomorrow, they are all under the Blood. God loves you so much and he is not upset with you when you accidentally sin. He doesn't have a ruler in his hand ready to wack you when you do wrong. He knows you are trying your best not to sin. So don't focus on what you are doing wrong, focus on what you are in Christ - you are an overcomer, more than conqueror in Jesus, you are royal priesthood a holy nation, people belonging to God. Pump yourself in the Word. God forgives you and he is so proud of you. He is the perfect Father who wants the best for you. The more you focus on him the better off you will be. No matter if you sin today or tomorrow or if you commit the same sin over and over he will help you through it all. Do you remember St. Paul stating that he did things he didn't want to do and the things he should have done he didn't do because of his fleshly desires. We all will struggle in the area of sin as long as we are on Earth. There is no such thing as a perfect person on this planet, so get used to the fact that you will make mistakes even when you don't want to. Don't be too hard on youself because I can tell you right now that God is not being hard on you at all - he is rootin for you to finish your course on Earth. If their is a bondage in your life the Holy Spirit will point it out to you. Remember you are human and you will make mistakes - there is no way out of it. Until you get to Heaven, you will continue to make mistakes. But it is for the Grace of God you are forgiven on a regular basis. So rejoice in the fact that your sins covered by the Blood of Jesus.

Well, your in good company. Paul had this same dilemma and he was very effective in his walk with God.
The reality of never sinning is only a pipe dream, but this is not a ticket to continue in that sin. The day you give up on trying to live righteously is the day that sin has gained mastery over you.
There is a bit of common sense that should be employed when dealing with an area of difficulty. You must ask yourself, what am I allowing into my life that is leading to this sin? If you pray about it and be honest with yourself, the Lord will show you the things your allowing in that is not edifying.
Usually, with something this difficult, it will be something that seems important to you that needs to be removed, this will challenge your faith to see how willing you really are to remove this pattern from your life.

Some pretty good answers so far. The key is in Rom 7-8 and is summarized in Rom 12:
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
We all sin but it is not in our strength that we can do anything. Often we try and fail either because we try to do it without Christ who said "apart from Me you can do nothing" or we are trying for the wrong reasons. We can't change the old man we need to put him off and put on the new man. Remember that God owes you nothing but has promised you great things so lay hold of God's promises. Those who think this is an easy battle either are not truly born again and experiencing real spiritual battle or are what Paul calls "carnal". Anyway remember the battle takes place in the mind and heart so "guard your heart with all diligence for out of it come the issues of life"
Your love for Christ and hate for sin will grow in proportion to your faith in and knowledge of the vast benefits you have in Christ.

Hon, that's Satan trying to bring you down! The apostle Paul had the same problem. See Romans 7:14-20. Catch yourself and rebuke Satan right at that moment. Remind him(and yourself) you are a child of God and cannot be touched by Satan. Get yourself away from the temptation that is causing you to sin. And keep praying and reading the word. Find a good Christian friend to keep you accountable. God will never leave you or forsake you. I'll be praying

Go and sin no more. Make up your mind that you are not going to do this again. But what sin are we speaking of here? You see, some things people are taught are sins are not, so lets be sure you really are sinning. If so, you can renew your mind not to do so again. You have to convince yourself that not doing is important. The reason you still do so is because you are not really serious enough in your heart about giving up.
Godly sorrow works repentence. repentance means a change of heart. True regret of sin works a change in our hearts to the point that we choose not to do the sin again and keep our hearts changed.

Your salvation is secure no matter how many times you fall short of God's glory. During the Day of Judgment, your sins will be brought up for review & you will not be sentenced to death but punished in some other way (like not receiving any reward). So, as a sincere believer that Christ is your Saviour, you need not worry about this salvation issue for you will be saved in the end.
Here's what Paul says on this matter (1 Corinthinas 3:9-15):
9 For we are God's fellow workers. You are God's field, God's building.
10 According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. 11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw— 13 each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. 14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

Assuming this is not a joke. You are probably not saved. I don't mean to upset you but many people especially in the Pentecostal persuasion think they are saved. Since you mentioned the holy ghost and tongues I kinda figured you were Charismatic. Many in that movement get saved, then lost , and then saved again. They go through this seesaw thing forever. If you are truly born again you will be repulsed by sin. A true Christian can fall into sin, but they can never stay there. The fact that you feel bad after you sin could be a good sign. You may be stumbling around repentance. Maybe you don't have enough faith to completely surrender to Jesus just yet. When you are saved you turn into a completely different person without trying-it just happens. You may be close -don't loose heart, God is serious about this.
