I have always fed him Iams dry cat food. When he uses the litter box you will immediately smell it on the other end of the house!
We use scoopable litter which is scooped out daily.
He is a 5 year old 15 pound orange kitty that looks like Garfield.
His name is Raymond. Believe me, in our house, everybody does not like smelling Raymond! Help Please!!!

I've got one with a digestive disorder that also smells incredibly bad.

1. Use Arm&Hammer Multicat Strength litter
2. Purchase a Petmate litter box. They have one designed with a carbon filter that eliminates odors... seriously, sometimes I forget to scoop and I can't smell it. They are sold at PetSmart.
3. Take the cat off of IAMS. Your vet will tell you that IAMS is great for a good coat and etc, but it is hard on their digestive system. Try Purina Cat Chow, or better yet, go to moist. We use Kit-n-Kaboodle.
4. Stay away from White fish. It is extemely difficult for cats to digest it. It REEKS! Hey come to think about it, doesn't IAMS have some White fish in it... hmmmmm.

Change your litter choice to Arm & Hammer. Also add in their Cat Litter Deodorizer. My cat Jewel has the same problem & this seems to be the best option.

Here are a few other suggestions:

Change the cat litter, all of it, weekly. Pour in fresh litter & the powdered deodorizer. Buy a new litter box every 6 months. Washing it in between changes helps but plastic retains odors. Use litter box liners if Raymond won't scratch holes in them. Some are sifting style & you just lift them out.

If he's an indoor only cat, feed him Purina Naturals or another indoor formula to control hairballs. Give him fresh water daily too & don't use tap water. You don't drink it, why should your pet? Give him filtered or bottled water.

I've included the link to Arm & Hammer's website. Hope this helps!

I have the same issue,
The trouble I see is the time the 'poop' exits and gets buried. So as with us humans. What do we do?? We use bath exhaust fans, right? So I figured I would try this as well. It is a little pricey, but the smell is awful and will be worth it when I am done.
Plan is (in a nutshell) to use a quiet bath fan (1.5 somes) rigged to come on when my cat enters the litter box area and run for 3 minutes or so.

I had 2 cats like that (strays I took in). One ate a lot, yet maintained an outstanding weight. the different replaced into skinny no remember how a lot I fed it. by using fact I had in no way owned a cat till now, i did not think of a lot with regard to the undesirable poop smell. i replaced into, regardless of if, in touch with regard to the smaller cat's weight. Come to be sure, they the two had worms. as quickly as the worms have been eradicated, the thin one crammed out exact and their poop did not smell as undesirable. If the subject finally ends up not being worms, try including baking soda to the clutter to soak up particularly some the smell. desire this facilitates.

I have the same 'problem', the thing is; if your cat (like my cat) does not cover up their business after they use the litterbox, the whole house will smell no mather what you feed them. I don't really care, I clean it up right away, spray some airfreshner and forget about it.
Perhaps a covered litterbox with filters and a swingdoor will help control your Garfield's fumes a bit : )

We use Iam's cat food and Tidy Cat litter for multiple cats and don't seem to have a problem with odor. I would also suggest talking with your vet. Maybe it's a health issue.
