He doesnt take them when he should, which causes him to be insanely angry, he almost killed the puppy for making a mistake, he is totally mean to me and even his child who i know he adores. I guess the question is? can I as his wife have him involuntarly evaluated?,,,Yes I married him but when we dated I had no knowledge that he would behave like he does. He began to give me hints like "My mouth feels dry like cotton balls" or "I feel dizzy" and then i did research on his meds. And now I see he isnt taking his meds. This

if you really think he is a danger to himself or others, you can have him evaluated involuntarily. it may take calling the police or getting a court order though.

You can have him placed into a psychiatric hospital where he will be evaluated. What worries me the most is the anger he is displaying. If he came close to murdering an animal, he will do the same to your child or yourself. He has to be responsible enough to take his medication when he is supposed to take it, and skipping it sometimes can do more harm than good. Is there a reason why he won't take it? I've heard the side effects stink. Maybe he can ask the doctor for something that won't affect him so badly if that is what the problem is. If he won't take it because he "forgets", maybe a gentle reminder every morning will help. Ultimately, because he is an adult, he must do this for himself. Just take care that he does not take out his anger on you or the child. That can create a bigger problem than you want.
Good luck!

You can not personally have him involuntarily evaluated unless you get a court order. To get a court order you have to show cause (that means you have to have physical proof and that he is involved with a crime)- death or injury. This is to another living being (animal or person), including himself. Then the judge has to decide that he needs an evaluation.
If he claims he is going to attempt suicide you can have a welfare check done on him through your local police. You just call and let them know that he is stating he is suicidal. They check and decide if they will bring him in for evaluation.
If there is proven domestic violence during divorce the judge can require an evaluation before child custody is decided.
I do not know what he was diagnosed with but sometimes medications stop working or they need to be upped in dosage. Only his health care provider can analize his current needs. What I do know is you and your children are in possible dangerous situation.
You need to worry about you and your children. If he is already verbally of physically abusing you or your children, please go seek help for domestic violence. They can get you help to see and understand all sides of the situation.
Do not wait to get help, do not second guess youself, and do not try to save him - save u and yr kids!
Please take that puppy with you or find him a new home.
These facts are only good in the USA, I do not know that legalities of other countries mental health systems.

Talk to the psychiatrist. I doubt is he/she will be able to give you much info but you can sure give the info that your husband is not taking the meds. Let the doctor know about the anger problem and fast.

The laws vary in different states as far as involuntary mental health treatment but the psychiatrist could help with that too.

Do his parents or siblings have any influence over him? One of them could be a big help to you.

Protect and take care of yourself. Good luck.

Sounds like his side effects are causing him not to take the meds which inturn makes his saratonin go nutts in his brain. Get another med,; if he wont continue. The side effects will go away or lessen with time; but if he cant deal...get him on other meds. Call his psyciatrist and tell them what he is going throuh. either that or bail him out of jail after you make a mistake and he breaks your face.

you should talk to your husband about going to the doctors and maybe having his meds changed. I was on paxil for 2 years and it made me feel very dizzy and lightheaded. Once I became pregnant my doctor switched me tp prozac and it worked much better for me. It does seem awful, knowing you have to take a med that makes you feel like sh*t, but his doctor should be able to work with him on this and possibly try him on a different medication.
