Actually you can wash it right away if you like.
If you had a single process applied to your hair then there is no color to wash out.Just be sure the shampoo used is not one that deposits color, such as those for brunettes,blondes,etc. and make sure you condition. Color of any kind dries out your hair.

I an an unnatural redhear. I would definitely wait at least 24 hours, but you stop some the "shock" watering down your color, by washing and rinsing in COLD water, not lukewarm.
Afterall, this coloring was a labor of love. This will also help to give your hair shine and managability.

I would wait 2 days but if you went to a good salon, they are supposed to seal the colour so you shouldn't get any fading for a atleast 2 - 3 weeks if any.

Yeah, wait as long as you can. The sooner you wash it after colouring it, the more colour you will lose.
