Matthew 11:18-19 For John came neither eating nor drinking and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say,'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners" But wisdom is proved right by her actions.
Matthew desbribed Jesus as a drunkard so why should it be a grave sin?
Your sin could be the consequence of what you do when you are drunk.

Ok, why don't you answer this. Do I feel good when I get totally plastered? Does it do good things for my body? Will I be one of the thousands who die from alcohol related diseases? Will I be able to obtain all my life goals if I run over someone when I'm driving while drunk? Will my family like me better while I'm at home drunk?
If you feel being drunk is not a sin then your correct answers will be: Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes
If being drunk is a sin then you will have: No, No, Yes, No, No,
Only you can decide.

There are no degrees to sin. drunkenness is not sin. There is no such a commandment. The things that drunks do are another matter. Any sin committed sober of drunk puts us in a fallen state before a Holy God. Jesus through His sacrifice gave us a way out of the traped of sin and death. I have seen drunks turn to Christ and never again touch the stuff. Jesus can heal even alcoholism...Jim

I don't believe it is a sin to have a drink, say a glass of wine with your meal. (I don't drink but I don't condemn people who do). I do believe it is a sin to be drunk. The bible speaks against drunkenness. I believe it is a sin because of what you do while you are drunk. God Bless You.
Romans 13:12-14 (King James Version)
12The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Galatians 5:20-22 (King James Version)
20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Do you think it would be a grave sin to kill someone while you are drunk? HOw about ten people? Or twenty? How many would have to die to make it a grave sin? Anything that takes away your ability to think clearly is a grave sin to use.

I believe it to be a sin because the bible warns people, especially leaders not to drink. If you get drunk, you tend to lose physical control as well as not making good judgment, which could cause more sin.

God doesn't measure sin as we do. All sin keeps us for him and heaven, yes being drunk is a sin, and in our eyes it is worse if we get in a car and drive. God will forgive us all our sins if we believe and ask him to forgive us. See the book of JOHN.
