I am polite. Even though I let them know that regardless of their religion I have no interest in joining theirs. I am an episcopalian and am not converting to anything else.

If I'm home alone I won't open the door. If I'm not home alone the other person in the home has a weapon just in case (not a gun). The reason for the weapon is because we had a Jehovah Witness come to the house and drop what looked like a pen outside our door. After they left I picked it up and opened it. Much to my surprise it was not a pen but a knife. What would a Jehovah Witness need with a knife in one hand and a bible in the other? Scary sight. Showed my Mom, sister and brother. Gave the knife to my brother. Never opened a door to people like them again if I'm home alone. Not taking the chance. And if I see then walking handing out pamphlets I look the other way or drive off.
One Jehovah Witness approached me in public to preach to me that the bible said Christians should not vote in government elections since they were all citizens of God. And since we were citizens of heaven there was no need to vote for our government. Yeah right. It's people like him who complain about government but don't help make sure the right people get elected.

Depends on how I feel. One day I had these Jehovah's witnesses come to my door and I just waved my hand and told them to go away. I had a headache that day going up the back of my skull. Normally I would just open the door and tell them no, thank you. But that particular day I didn't feel well, so I didn't even answer the door. I could see them through the window.

We used to be polite, am open-minded and try to be respectful of others religion but not when they start telling me MY beliefs are wrong! Was nice once and had them coming up to 3 times a week once had 6 of them at our door! My wife once scared all but one away answering the door with her pentagram necklace and one of our huge ball python snakes wrapped around her neck.
Tho the one keep coming back till I told him look we were just being polite and tried to just accept your stuff, but heck we don't believe it! Never have read one, honestly just throw them out. II wrote down the address of one friend we used to know and told him she really needs your guidance and needs to be saved he should see her. Shes an extreme Christian and loves to go on for hours debating how Christianity is the only one TRUE religion and will also go on for hours trying to save others. Goddess I wish I could have been a fly on the wall during the talks they would have had, LOL

I live in a mobile home park that doesn't allow soliciting of any kind. If they're spotted walking around, we call the managers who will come around with the golfcart & give them a ride out to the sidewalk in front of the park. When I lived with family, friends or during my nanny jobs, I was always polite to them, refusing the literature in a polite manner.
I was recently approached in a grocery store's parking lot by a JW. She'd been behind me in line inside the store & we happened to go out to our cars almost simultaneously. Upon seeing my Wiccan/Pagan bumper stickers & wording, she offered me a Watchtower magazine. I asked if she thought I needed saving since she was handing me the booklet. She gave me a blank look & I knew she had no clue how to reply. I smiled sweetly & told her I was fine with my choice, got into my car & left her standing there looking stupidly after my vehicle.
Was that rude? Just a little bit. Oh well.

I am very polite if they do not get offensive. I also tell them right off the bat that I am a witch and that I am very happy with my religion. I also inform them that they can talk to me if they can answer me one question: Why was Lucifer called a rebel when all he did was follow Gods first command to the angels when he did not bow down to Adam and serve him? If they can answer that then I will listen usually they can't then I politely excuse myself and close the door. I love watching them walk away looking in the bible.

From the start I'm polite. I let them say their sales pitch. They are trying to sell their religion to me. Nothing wrong with that. There is no reason to be rude until they disrespect me by not showing me the same courtesy when I tell them I'm an atheist. And not listen to my reasoning and logic. Then I politely kick them out.

Polite, but I still have my fun. I *love* it when ppl come to my door to witness. I wish they did it more often, b/c since they're coming to me, they're fair game for my endless questioning and reasoning. None of them ever know how to handle a staunch atheist. Sometimes I tell them I'm a satanist, just for the priceless looks on their faces. Indeed, I may as well be satan himself as far as a true believer is concerned.

At first, I try to be very polite. I understand that these people feel that they are trying to "save" humanity. I understand that they believe in their faith very much and I respect that. The problem begins when they refuse to respect me, or my beliefs. If I listen for a little while, and say thank you....but no thank you. Let that be the end! Respect me enough to respect my beliefs and faith, no matter what it is. If you can't do that, then the politeness factor goes down hill in a hurry.

If I don't see them first and just pretend I'm not home (because I hate saying no)..I'm polite and tell them nicely that "I'm not interested thanks". They are very nice and polite, so how can you be rude? I keep my feelings about JWs being a cult to myself. lol Not even if pop star Prince came knocking on my door, would I get into a discussion about it. hehe
