I weight 178 and I want to loose 30 or 40 pounds before school starts and plus my BMI calculation says I am overweight HeIGHT 5'7 WEIGHT 178 bmi = 27.something. I am 13 but i really want to lose weight.

That is one or more pounds a day. You need a calorie deficit of 3500 calories a day to do that. If your present intake is less than that, you will lose the weight but you will be dead. A person who is extermely overweight, and eats more than 4000 cal per day, can do that and live, but it is very extreme. A BMI of 27 is overweight but not extremely so. You should try for a loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week (calorie deficit of 500 to 1000 cal/day). Keep it up for several months until you are at your desired weight.

Hate when people come in here and post BS. I've lose 42 lbs in 33 days so yes, it is possible for 30-40 in a month. Those that say no really need to find topics they know more about and waste someone else's time. I did it off 3 cans of tuna a day, no mayo and tons of water. But took discipline. Best of luck.

Make sure to plug in your age into BMI. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. you can't lose that about of weight in one month but starting now you can excercise for 30 minutes a day and cut out soda and fast food. Eat healthy like salads and fruits
