I want to strangle them so bad... God definitely gives some of us more than we can handle, or at least does nothing to stop us from getting more than we can handle. In fact, there is living proof of it. There are people in mental institutions, hobos, drunks, depressed people, drug addicts, raped and beaten children, etc., and they all got more than they can handle. Chances are in favor of God not being the direct cause of all this, but like I said, he is doing NOTHING to stop it from happening. I'm not trying to promote satanism or anything, in fact I worship the same god that I am criticizing because everyone else is worse. Please, tell me what you think of this. And no telling me that there is no God, or promoting Satanism, because these two things have major logic gaps.

I already said I worship God, so shut the **** up, rangedog. Also, those of you who disagree with anything while not having any backup should not ever talk.

To kimberly 18 ...: What if there IS NO positive side to what has happened? Specifically what has happened all MY life, I have NO skill. In ANYTHING. Period. As in, I can't even practice with whatever a dumb **** can call skill that I have, thus resulting in my eternal worthlessness, for it is practice that makes us better, and since practice doesn't work on me, I am eternally worthless. This makes me feel like a total waste of everything that I consume, be it space, matter or time. Oh, wait... I AM A TOTAL WASTE! In conclusion, I am eternally a complete waste of everything, and I still worship God because he's my only hope, even though it is entirely obvious that he's not gonna help. Even the things that I have been doing ALL OF MY ****ING LIFE (aka video games) I can be passed at by a literally complete n00b (that's stupid new person, for those who don't play competitive video games). And when I am not competing, I have to use countless cheats to make my loss not too embarrassing.

The book of job, eh? Isn't that the one where a very good person who loved God very much got many different diseases, all his material possessions desatroyed, all of his family killed, everything he ever worked for lost, all because Satan bet God that the guy only worshipped God because he got so many good stuff before the bet, and God did all of this bad stuff to the guy, and when the guy prayed in desperacy for help, God made things even worse for him, just so he could prove a point?

Our society today is the worst that it has been in a long time. Some of the things that you are mentioning are choices, being a drunk or a drug addict is a choice. My brother made the choice to be an alcoholic for 20 yrs. he is in AA now and has been sober for a year, he will tell you that even in the worst times God is all he had to sustain him. If you are talking about actual Hbo's well I think they live that life style by choice also. Some homeless people are unable to do any better for themselves, but that is society, not God letting them down. Mental illness is just that, an illness. As a nurse I can speak to the fact that mental illness and depression are both very sad disease processes. Luckily if you have generalized depression without psyhcosis then there are many good temp. medications that can help. As for rapes and abused children, society again. we are too easy on the people that have been convicted of these crimes. We have the death penalty for people that commit these horrible crimes but we don't use it. We are too P.C. these days. Watch the news you can have a felon who wiped out a whole family and there will be a group of people standing outside the prison up until the last minute protesting his death. God does not interfere with our decisions to destroy ourselves. He gave us freedom of choice. Blame the bad choices that people make on the people not on God. He's not a "fairy Godfather " who comes down here and fixes everything that we have screwed up in this world.
I never really understood what that saying meant either until: 1. my house burned and I lost everything, 2. Hurricane Katrina came through and hit our county and town in MS hard, 3. my precious mama died of cancer on Feb.19th of this year. But I do now, because no matter what I had to face, no matter what my family had to face, our faith in God and his love an strength sustained us then and is continuing to do so now. He hasn't put any more on us than we can handle with him at our side and in our hearts.
God bless.

look when they said that, they meant temptations. he won't let Satan place any temptations in our way that we absolutly can't yield from. Not that it wouldn't be difficult, because sweety, life is hard. the whole thing. bad things happen to good people, and if horrible things come into ours lives, or even if we were born with horribe things, God is always there and when we need strength, he will always be there. for strength. to keep us standing stong. If we die, it was our job to build a strong relashionship with him. Especially through the tough parts. As for the drunks and drug addicts, it was there choice. they could have asked God for strength and wisdom to yeild that temptation, but they gave in. it's not like anyone MADE them do it. Yes they may have gotten beaten, or made fun of, or anything. If they had the Hand of God in there hand, then they maybe would not have given in. God gave free will to everyone, so they can make anyone feel worthless. Depressed people could also ask God for strength, and all those awful remarks of people or anything not going right in their life would just fade away. It's not that easy, so they need to use God as a fortress and lean on him. Life is tough. No, way more than tough. God allows things to happen so that when the people lean on God they will grow closer in the relashionship with him. If there were no struggles in life, then how would you grow closer to him? If he gave everyone EVERYTHING they want, then we would all end up killing each other, with no relashionship with God so we would all go to hell. What good would that do? well I hope I've made sense to you and I hope you use my advise. :)
God Bless

But Job said, Blessed be the Name of the Lord. You give and take away!
I have lost a 12 year old child in the most devastating of circumstances, I have had many difficult things happen in my life also, but God has not given me more than I can handle, because with Him I am more than a conqueror through Him who loved me.
I choose to get bitter not better. God has been my refuge and strength, and a very present help in times of trouble. I have proved this to be so in each difficult situation and circumstance of my life. I have become stronger and more able to help others as a result.
It is all by God's grace.

So you are saying that you have been in the mental hospitals and been one of the addicts or depressed people? If so, you know that is was not God that handed you the drugs, alcohol that was put into the body but it was your choice to do something He said was no good for you to do but it was YOU that did it, not God. If you have seen some that I have seen in them, you should know that they do not even know where they are or what is right or wrong as they were born that way to parents that had taken drugs of their own choice, not God's. So if you are going to strangle the one that said that God gives nobody more than he can handle, better get to strangling God as He is the one that said it. It is not God that holds a gun to your head so you will put that junk in your veins or that drink in your mouth and swallow it. That is YOUR choice, YOUR decision. He will never give you any more than you can handle, even if you are raped or beaten, you do not have to retaliate or do something really stupid or get so depressed but you choose to sometimes. Understandable for sure but it is not God that puts it all on you, it is your choices that take you down. If you are raped, you can choose to let it ruin you or to make it the thing that inspires you to help others not to let it happen to them. Which are you going to choose? IF you are a drunk, you can choose to put that bottle down and never pick it up and help others or you can choose to keep on drinking and kill yourself and no telling how many others. Which will YOU Choose? Not God doing it to you or giving you more than you can handle as whenever He lets something happen to you, He also gives you a way out of it if you CHOOSE to take it.

Yes it does say that in the bible but it's not exactly the whole passage.
It says that he doesn't give us more than he can handle BUT he also allows a way out when it is too much. THAT is the problem! Most of us miss the obvious ways of escape. Like:
"Oh all these people around me doing drugs. It's too much for me. The temptation is too strong. I'll just have to give in and do the drugs myself. I'm just not strong enough to resist. God gave me too much to handle..."
Duh!!!! Every room has a door you know. Use it!!! You used it to go in the room, now use it to leave.
Now in a more spiritual metaphysical sense, every room has a door, it just takes wisdom in each situation to find it. And if you don't have wisdom, ask God for it. He'll show you.

I was about to quote the 1 cor 10:13 and i see that someone else beat me to it. there is also Rom 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
1. do you love Him?
2. are you living according to His Word the Bible?
3. Some translations say the Glory of God not the good. I.e. that they give God good (in today's terminology) PR.
Seek Jesus and you will be able to find a way through. Curse him and you are ignoring the help that is offered. Quite frankly God maybe trying to prompt someone to do something that would be of help to you and that person is ignoring God's direction.

First of all - Those people are making it through so therefore it isn't more than they can handle. Second - why do you just assume it is God making them have all these problems - did you not remember that the devil works just as hard as God does? Those people - drug addicts, hobo's, homeless, they had choices and those choices put them where they are today. That is not Gods fault - God would help them, but they have to be willing to help themselves and ask for Gods help. God wants us to prosper but we have to do for God too, we have to obey and listen and do what he wants and go down the path that he has laid out for us and when we don't - bad things happen - that is not of God - that is the devil and it is then our fault that the devil has taken over. It is up to the individual to make changes and let God help them.

God never gives me more than he and I can together handle. He routinely gives me more than I can handle on my own.
You said yourself Chances are in favor of God not being the direct cause of all this. How much of this stuff did or do people go out and do all by themselves knowing full well what they are doing and what the consequences are and when they get in trouble say oh why did God let this happen to me?

You must not have read to the end of Job, where, after his trials he was paid back with MORE than what he had to begin with. If you are truly trusting in God (though it certainly seems doubtful), even if everything around you is taken from you, if you hold onto Him in faith, you'll find He's always there for you.
He never promised He would take away the things of life that weigh us down, but that He would walk us through them.

dear no one said that life would be easy, and as far as the book of job, i think you better read it again, because it said that satan went to god and said that job loved god only for what he was blessed with, but God didn't strike job with everything that was bad, satan did.Why would a loving God send his son to die for us,if he would send sickness in the first place, thats dumb. And as far as more than someone can handle all someone has to do is say that they can't handle it, ive been through alot of things in my life, but the only thing that made me get through it was my faith in God, my doctor once told me that what i went through i should have either been dead or in a mental insitute, but i onlly survive because of faith, You said about depressed ppl, i have clinical depression, I don't know why im not cured but God has his reasons,God promised he would never leave us, or forsake us, he didn't say he would cure everyone, not till the end of the world.and you say your worthless etc, no your not, thats a lie satan wants you to believe because in our fathers eyes, your priceless, and if i didn't believe this i wouldn't waste my time on answering this, points or no points. Trust him with all your heart. he does hear you.oh by the way it does say in the bible that he will not break a broken reed, thats where god doesnlt give us more than we can handle.
