I'm assuming that a porta cath is some kind of catheter.

An ICD-9 code is a diagnosis. You don't diagnose a catheter. The procedure for inserting or removing said catheter would have a CPT code.

Not sure what the ICD-9 is, but a porta cath is a catheter that is surgically inserted in a main artery by a Vascular Surgeon. This is so that everytime you go to the doctor, hospital or undergoing chemotherapy.....that you dont have to have an IV system hooked up each time. It is especially used for Cancer patients.
