Of all the world major theistic religions, don't they all believe in essentially the same God? The surrounding beliefs may be different, but aren't the core ones the same?

Don't all religions believe that there is some type of divine force that looks over everything? And that we should all be good to each other?

Who knows?! Just because a person believes zealously in a particular religion does not necessarily mean that he has chosen the one-and-only way, but merely that this is his choice. Those of all other religions also may believe zealously in their choice. All of the hissing and swatting at one another simply misses the point and is futile. We need to look inward and find our own individual connection to "God", or "Universal Intelligence", and stop trying to "convert" the other fellow over to our way, because we may be doing him a great mis-service. Who are we to say that he is wrong. None of us have an "inside track" on the answers. Keep an open mind in the search for Truth.

Not at all I would say. Its not the BELIEF in God that is important, it is how you DEFINE that idea of what God is that reflects truly what you are believing in. So if different groups' beliefs DEFINE God in contrary ways (like his nature, his role in the universe, his role in earth's history, his attitude towards people, methods for or need for salvation just to name a few "core" beliefs), then no they cannot possibly be believing in the same Supreme Being. But if there is ONE and ONLY ONE God (like most mainline religions maintain) then if your idea of God is far enough off base- then it is no longer a belief in God but rather a practice in vanity and superstition. Essentially some must be right to some degree, and some must be wrong. Not the most ecenumical answer but its the truth.

No. Some religions do not believe in any "divine force". Like. Buddhism. Buddhism is just a teaching of finding enlightment.

But, generally, monotheistic religions pretty much believe the same thing.

The more I read other religions, the more I know that I do not believe in the same GOD as other religions beleive in.

I dont know what kind of explanation you would like to give for the core being of GOD to be the same for all when some of the other religions are going around stealing land, killing millions, raping women and torturing those who do not believe in their faith.

I think we are all grown up enough and do not need to give any explanations to anyone else about what I mean by my statement.

How can I, a hindu, pious and non violent, have the same entity of GOD as a muslim, torturer, killer, rapist and thief?

It is all in front of our eyes. We do not have to go around looking for it. Muslims have ruined my life and country, destroyed my religion and culture, stolen our land by killing millions, and still want more.

The word "we" is over-inclusive. One may suppose that the theistic religions believe in the same god, but the attributes of that god differ substantially. Benificent or vindictive? Generous or stingy? Invervening in human afrairs, or not? But, back on point: I see no reason to believe in any sort of god, having never seen competent evidence to support an allegation of any such.

Jesus is the way and the truth and the life, no one will enter to the Father's house except through Him.

The Bible warns us not to have other gods, so He is aware of the other so called gods people tend to worship.

The core is not the same. I believe that the Bible is true. The message in ght Bible is very clear about this matter.

I believe that every religion is a cultures viewpoint of the same "God" Do we have any proof that there is one or many gods, no. But we each have our own set of moral beliefs.

Personally I am an Episcopalian

It would be nice to think that we all worship the same God, but the truth is we don't for the following reasons>First of, all religions basically teach peace, love, respect, etc. which is similar YET, they all contradict eachother. Meaning, buddhism has no god, hinduism has millions of gods, christianity has One God. With this in mind, each religion has its own way to reaching God/enlightment/nirvana> I don't think that God would create contradictory and confusing ways inorder for us to reach him> therefore, I believe that the only way to reach God is if you believe that Jesus Christ is lord and savior>

Yes, I think so. The different religions are interpretations or mis-interpretations of the same. The very core of each is basically the same.

No...

Even though most religions teach essentially the same things, their gods and ways to an afterlife are radically different.
