There is a prescription you can get from your Dr., but you have to catch it right away. There are also medications you can buy at the Drugstore. I believe it is Abreva.

I have had at times multiple cold sores and found that L-Lysine and acidopholis helps. Acidophalis is also found in yogurt. Sometimes cold sores can be brought on by stress or simply an acidic stomach. Try swallowing some Milk of Magnesia to nuetralize the acid.

I use cold sore cream and over a week or so it goes away! Apparently spraying perfume on them works, ive never tried but does work for some... And try not to like it and keep it as dry as possible...

I get cold sores all the time, in fact I have 2 now. I use Blistex and it dries it up quick. Also, not stressing over it gets rid of it quicker. The longer you stress over it, the longer it lingers. I know this from experience.

It depends on how severe they are. If it's small, try to keep it as dry as possible. It will usually take 10 days to heal. Don't mess with it!
If it's large, go see a Dr. He can prescribe medicine to prevent them from forming. You might also try taking L-Lysine, it helps prevent them too.
Another option is Abreva, it helps some people.

Abreva worked well for me. I didn't even use it according to directions (supposed to apply five times a day) and the problems cleared up fast.
