Your right the red will not cover the black. You'll have to go to a salon to get it done. They will use a special chemical to strip your hair.

You need to go to a haair salon and have some one strip it then dye it as close to your natural color as possible. You could try it on your own, but nine times out of ten you will end up going to a salon anyway. Don't try lightening your hair with another hair color because you will only affect the outgrowth of your hair since it wasn't dyed in the first place, Color cannot take out color.I'm sorry.

good luck, i tried that once and never got it red but i sure did pay for it as it ruined my hair for about a half year and had to keep cutting it shorter.
i tried bleaching it first then coloring it, ended up a weird orange. then i tried recoloring it and it worked in some places, but in others it didn't so i had like multiple shades of red/orange so i rebleached it and recolored it my shade of brunette which gave me kinda purplish color and had to recolor it again before finally giving up and leaving it a dark dark dark almost black which i wanted to get away from in the first place.
now i'm gonna stay a brunette forever and live with it as i really don't look good as a blonde and for sure aint gonna try and be a redhead again.

You should probably go to a salon and have it done. Once you dye your hair real dark it can be tricky to get it lighter or a different color. Your best bet is to pay to let someone do it or you may hate how your hair comes out/damage your hair really bad.

you have to bleach it first if u want the exact color u c onthe box...some boxes have a chart that shows different colors and u find the hair color u have now then right next to it will be the hair color u will get after u dyed it.so basically it depends on the stuff u buy so if it doesnt have one of those charts then u have to bleach it to get the exact color thats on the box.

I wold go get it profesionally bleached. its always easier to go darker but once yougo to dark, stripping the color is about the only thing you can do.

ask your stylist if they can bleach it. it may make it a bit orange or not an actual blonde color but hopefully once you get it lighter, you can dye it red....ask your hair stylits FIRST to make sure that this method will work right, but it should.

Go to a salon.
You'll have to bleach your hair before putting the red on to make it show up well.
And you shouldnt ever try to bleach black hair at home. It's difficult.

henna ...henna should never be used in any other cases..

only if you want your black hair to have a reddish shade

if you use it a few times constantly your hair shoild get redder and redder

it healthy for the hair..noy damaging like those dyes....(but remember to condition well beacuse it does have a very drying affect)

you should bleach it and then go red cuz it won't work if you just color over the black
