If you put a pipe round the world the person on both ends would be you, so the answer to the question is yes

Yes, you would be able to hear something, but it would just be a series of very loud explosions.
The Earth as you know is curved, so the weight of your voice would be continually falling and therefore building up speed until eventually it would break the sound barrier and your words would not be decipherable, just a series of very loud bangs.
I guess it would be the same if you threw a tennis ball down the pipe too, except it would hit you on the back of your head glowing white hot like a meteor and making a very loud bang in the process.
I hope this helps.

Oh, I sell pipe by the way, so please come to me for a great discount when you eventually decide to construct this wonderful device.

No, the world will only hear what it wants to hear, whether the pipe is thick or thin

uh, why not just try the internet or a phonecall, alot easier than making a big pipe costing billions and lots and lots of time to fail, lol

depends on how load your voice is!
sound waves dissipate quite quickly in air, if it was full of water you'd stand a better chance!
