I'm 17. I like a guy who I work with. I think he likes me, too. He's been talking to me a lot lately and I think he's flirting with me. He goes goes to my school, too. I've known him for a while, but this is the first time we've actually really talked.

So this morning this lady who works there too, came in. She wasn't working, though, just buying a few things since I work in a department store.

She approaches me and asks me if I'm "seeing anyone". I say, "No." And then she refers to her son, as in, would I like to go out with her son? I didn't have time to respond, so she said, "We'll talk about it tomorrow."

I have only seen her son about 4 times, never really talked to him, don't even know his name...

I would really like to see where this is going with the guy that I like, even though I am pretty much shy when it comes to relationship stuff.

It's just, going out with her son would be easier and that's what my friends want me to do.

What do you think I should do??

go with the guy you like and not the son, because you should go with your heart.

Don't date anyone you don't really know simply because he's convenient - that's no basis for a relationship.

By all means get to know this woman's son and then decide whether or not you want to date him - but don't do this in a "date" scenario.

In your current situation I would suggest being proactive by asking out the guy you like. If he says yes, great. If he says no then at least you know where you stand - but - again - don't settle for what's easy or convenient if it isn't what you want.

If you've got nothing going on with this guy you like, it would seem that this lady's son might be first in line, and it would be only polite to accept his invitation.

Either way, though, you can always slow down if you think you're not ready for such things yet.

Well if you want your crush...then the time might be now to get the courage to ask if he'd like to go out on a date or something. If not..then go for the other. One date won't ruin anything.
