Okay, well right now, my sister left with our cousin to go out to eat and to take out my cousin's nephew, Angel. I really didnt wanna go, because the truth is I dont really like toddlers. Sometimes, its kids in general. Before they left, my cousin came up to me and asked if I wanted to go, I said no, but then asked me if I wanted to come to the movies which they will go to later on. So they said theyd call me you know, to pick me up. But, I guess what worries me is that I dont really get along with kids and Angel doesnt really know me that well. Ive never talked to him, played with him, nothing. My sister has, you know, when she visits my cousins. I purposefully dont go, because the kids sometimes i cant tolerate them, but Angel is quite a character. I guess I'm worried because if he says something to me, I dont know how to talk to him back, you know? Anyways, I am probably gonna go because I so wanna see the movie Step Up. I just dont know how to talk to the kid. Any advice?

Go to the movie and don't worry about the kid Angel. Because see, you are so worried about not treating him right that you rather stay out of the picture then make a little friend. Just be yourself, and answer his question if he is asking you. My stepdaughter was exactly like that when she was 17. Kids were her worst nightmare. To my amazement she knows how to deal with children--in fact a lot better than most adults. It is not that you can't get along with the kid. You are at an age where it is normal not to deal with small children, and that is very ok. So don't worry. Go to the movie, if the kid is asking you a question, don't get upset, just answer it if you can, and go about watching the movie and have some fun.....things will straighten themselves out in time...Good Luck

i understand your point, but you have to find a way around it. think of it this way, you meet the guy of your dream. tall, dark, handsome, smart, rich, everything, a star even. anyway, he love his mom (for example) and she is a *****. so what will you do?? well date the guy and see the mom very very few times a year. So if you like to hang with your cousin, go a head and plan for some fun, ask for your nephew, see if the grandpa can take care.

It's easy just smile alot. Sometimes just saying the word ok sweetie works. Personally I always kept my young kids at home during a movie

It Angel is a toddler, he won't be doing all that much talking anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If he is older, and does talk to you, just answer him like you would anyone else. He does have a brain, it just doesn't have as much information in it as yours does, yet.

I am assuming that you are a teenager that does not want to deal with kids. That could be a good thing for now. However just be nice to the lad. If he acts bratty tell the older relatives to make him stop. Don't be mean okay. Good luck.

The most important part about talking to a kid is to not get bothered by anything they say. And make sure that you never say that something he likes is stupid. Any other comment is fine.

Ask him what he likes to do, and just smile. IF he senses you're cool overall, he may engage you. Just think to have an open, honest conversation wit him. No pretense. Kids can sense that too! He may teach you a few things about yourself too. Kids are good at that. No BS with them!

Talk to kids just like you talk to anyone else. Find out what they like and talk about that.

Sometimes you have to try and feel like your that age again, just so you can understand where they are coming from.

Don't worry it's a movie and you're not supposed to talk during those.
