I haven't tried any weird ice cream but my grandfather LOVES lobster ice cream. It's vanilla ice cream with real lobster chunks mixed. You have to really LOVE lobsters for this because it is not for the queasy!

As a child in the 1960's we'd go to Baskin and Robbin's once a week for ice cream. I once had BOTH bubblegum and licorice scoops in the same cone. The bubblegum was bright pink and the licorice was shiny black...they both tasted like heaven! This was a big deal in northern Minnesota where being conservative was tops! Once in northern California in my hippie days I had garlic ice cream in Gilroy, California. Now I make my own soy ice cream. I have made green tea flavor and extra cream flavor. I add cream flavor and some brown sugar to the soy milk...it makes a fantastic "just-churned" soy cream that would food anyone into believing it was made from cow's milk!

I've heard of garlic icecream too, it was served at some garlic festival in CA, but I've never tried it.
Call me boring but the most "out there" ice cream I've tried is Cantelopes n Cream from Blue Bell. It's really good, especially if you like cantelope. It's made with real pecos cantelopes. Yumm, I think I'll get a bowl now.
