When you are in a hurry to get somewhere, you sometimes are focused on just getting there, quickly. You are going a bit faster than normal, changing lanes to get around others cars lagging, trying to manuveur into a better lane, hit a long yellow light, etc. and so you're out of sync with the regular traffic flow. Most modern avenues have lights programmed all on the flow of the oncoming traffic as soon as the light before it changes it. If they didn't, some lights would stay green too long while the red backed up traffic too long, etc. So when you're out of sync with the rest of the cars, a bit ahead of the group, it can sometimes take you longer to arrive.

Its also on red when you are not in a hurry ...you just don't notice it then, because you are not in a hurry. The same as you always get stuck behind a lorry on the motorway, or you get behind a learner driver, or a tractor, or you have to stop at the train lines! These are all everyday occurrences we just don't notice them until we are rushing about!

Because the lights are timed so that if you travel at the speed limit, you'll get mostly greens.

One of lifes mysteries!!!! It happens all the time. Like when you look for something and you can't find it, the next day when you don't need it you find it!!!! Is someone up there having a laugh??? However, I agree totally, its true.

I think the problem lies in the fact that you wear a cardigan
