This just irritates the crap out of me. You can smite this and Bible-thump that all you want, but in the end you know as much of God as anyone else. So get off your high-horse and join the rest of us in reality. In case you haven't noticed, you guys are making survival very difficult for lots of people. Religion kills.

Neptune: My beliefs are correct, because I do not presume to know anything of God or the lack there of. That is the difference between us. You claim to know the answers with nothing to back your claims while I just strive to find the answers. This is not my belief, but rather my practice.

Actually, they *do* believe that their beliefs are the absolute truth. That's pretty much the problem.

They may believe:
1)That an open mind and scientific thought damages their religion somehow - somehow denotes a God that they don't like.
2)The arguement allows them to seperate themselves from others, and thus treat them differently (similar to the Witnesses - you APOSTATE!...lol).
3)They don't realize that the Bible, especially the New Testament, basically defends itself if you use context and historical context.
4)They like being right.
5)They listen to their pastor and he told them so.
6)The interpret their bible the way they are told or even more dangerously, all by themselves. A 2000 year old document, by yourself....seriously good idea? Let's go for it and make our own religion. Its worked for thousands of pastors worldwide!
Correlary to 1)They limit the power of God by their own perceptions. Maybe God seems just to powerful?

I can't answer the first question, but the answer to the second is yes. What good is truth if it's not absolute.
BTW, I'm as annoyed as you are by people who bash people over the head with the Bible, particularly when the bashee doesn't believe it anyway. Wrong approach in my opinion.

After reading and responding to religious comments more people are choosing atheism or they become agnostic.
'Christians' are so self-righteous they unintentionally drive away potential 'customers'.
The religion seems so much like an elitish superficial sorority with hazing included that some good people are opting out.

It bothers me how easily a silly comment can get to you people. I see comments that are obviously trying to draw people out and I generally ignore them.
(Answered this one because I think you are probably a nice person)

I agree with you. I just believe in practicing my faith quietly and not inflicting it on others. Otherwise, ignore the fundies and go your own way.

I think they spout out about everyone else being doomed to prevent them from having to examine their own thoughts and beliefs. It's much easier to point out others' supposed thoughts than to think about your own.
