Is there any way to get a windows 95 game to run on XP? I really would like to play this game again but the installation wont work. Is there anything i could do or is there some future operating system that will remedy this?

The answer depends on the game. Some games were made for specific hardware that is currently outdated and will only install with that hardware. Other games run as fast as possible instead of running at a specific speed; on current computers these would run faster than is playable. These reasons make is extremely difficult to play the game. The problem is one that is not resolvable at the OS level, so future OSs would not be able to fix it.

Definitely try to run the game under compatibility mode:
Right-click the executable.
Select Properties.
Select Compatibility tab.
Run compatibility for: Windows 95

I was able to get an old copy of Master of Orion to run under XP Tablet Edition, so don't give up hope.

Sorry, it's not likely to happen. Older games control devices directly for performance reasons, which Windows XP (and Vista) do not allow for security reasons. Best bet is if the game manufacturer re-releases the game under a newer operating system.

I kept an old system running Win95 for a long time because my teenage son liked a game that only ran under Win95. Eventually he got over it.

It depends on the game. The compatability tab (mentioned in an answer above) works in most cases, but some older games just won't work with XP. You're best bet in that case is to find the publisher and see if they have a newer version, or a patch.

Probably not, since the game is programmed to run on a 16 bit bus and chip, and windows xp is designed to run programs on a 32 or 64 bit system.

Unfortunately if it's the installation it would be very difficult to get it to work... wish I could help.
