I have known this guy on an aquaintence level for several years (he's one of my brother's best friends). I now live in the same town as this guy and we've gone out to dinner and a movie a few times. I consider us friends now, but how do I tell him that I want to be more (like officially dating)? He's pretty shy and I don't want to scare him. He also has not had a lot of experience with dating (I'm not sure if he's ever had an official girlfriend). I'm shy too but on the occasion, I can be bold. I just don't want to make things weird between us or ruin a friendship, but I do want to make it clear to him that I like him more than a friend. If it helps you with your answer, I'm 24 and this guy is in his very early 30's. And I know he likes spending time with because he called me to go to a movie (although I initially asked him to dinner and a movie without the "just friends" pretense). So what is the best way to tell him that I want to be his girlfriend?

Wow tough one, A good way would be to ask questions like what he thinks of you? would he ever consider you as more than a friend? whats he looking for? Find out some history about his childhood too if you can because thats very odd for a man that old to be so shy and to not have had that many relationships, somethings up. Good luck!

Only you can decide, it seems like you already know, you can be bold on occasion, so ask him out.

He asked you to a movie, sounds good
I'd go for it, he's probably too shy to ask you himself and really hoping you will ask.

Sometimes we just have to take the risk, or we would get nowhere.

Get a mutual friend (say you brother) to ask (casually) if he likes you in that way, or when you next go out slowly snuggle up or something

Please try!!!

Since he is one of your brother's best friends, this may be keeping him from doing anything to take the relationship from friendly to dating. It doesn't sound like either of you are in danger of losing the other to someone else, so take your time. Get to know him, and let him get to know you as more that just "a friend's little sister." I know it's difficult to wait for what you want but, give it time, and he just may be the one to broach the subject.

The way I handled this situation w/ my girlfriend was I asked her "where she saw us going" and she told me was"she wanted to take her time and just go from there"
Then I asked her "In the mean time if she mined if i saw other girls?" well of course she did. So from there we set up boundaries in our relationship and as we got close to those boundaries we either would move them or decide it was to touchy to cross them if and when we got married . 1.5 yrs later I married my best friend! 10mnts later no regrets!

Tell him that you have strong feelings for him and you want to be more than friends. Inform him that if he does not want to be "more," then tell him you do not want to lose his friendship. Also, let him know that you want to move slowly with him if he is interested in being more than friends.
