I give this dictionary definition so we all start on the same page.
Faith: (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust
Assume that Person “A” has a deep abiding faith in his/her belief system, (for the believe fill in the blank) _____________. Person “B” also has a deep abiding faith in his /her belief system, (for the believe fill in the blank) _____________.
For sake of example let’s say that person “A” believes in Christianity, and person “B” believes in any other religion. Both are totally convinced that their believe is the only true believe. They both believe so strongly that they would lay down their life for their believe. Person “A” and person “B” are totally interchangeable in this equation.

We have two points of view. Both views have been arrived at by faith. Let us suppose that one can reach the correct point of view through faith. It stands to reason that one of these view points is then in error. Since only one view can be the correct one.
There are over 34,000 Christian sects in the world and tens of thousands of other religions that are not Christian, all proclaiming that their believe is the only true one. The odds, of reaching the one true believe by faith alone are rather poor. The millions of people that do not subscribe to the believe systems of person “A” or person “B” must be wrong, yet most of them arrived at their believe through faith. How then can we trust faith alone to be our guide, since it is obviously wrong in so many cases?
Please explain how faith works. How can it assure you that your individual believes are correct? Since all other believes, arrived at through faith are by definition wrong.

To answer "katydid " my point exactly. How do you know if you have the good life preserver? You would be a fool to get in the boat with the defective one.

To answer "cool busines" how does one get grace if not by faith? If faith is often wrong, how then can we know that the grace obtained is right? By the way, it seems that you are the only practitioner of Christian faith to try to answer this question. I wonder why?

Faith can never lead you to truth you can only think it does. As if you have faith in something evidence and proof doesn't matter any mores and you need evidence and proof to prove something true. That's why I don't have faith I'm an atheist and I could be wrong but that's the beauty of atheism as more evidence comes to light we can change our beliefs in how the universe works as it isn't governed by a story book and blind faith. Say no to jesus

Faith in anything comes through teaching. Faith in God comes through reading and studying God’s word, the Bible. I have dealt with many people of different so-called Christian beliefs. The one thing that I find in common in all of them is that some feeling is involved in their faith. This is the problem. Just because it feels good or feels right, doesn’t make it right!! We have to read and study God’s word to find out what is right and what is wrong! And, we can’t rely on preachers and teachers to tell us the truth. We must study and find out for ourselves. As the Lord said there would be, there are many false teachers in this world!
A person can build faith on any belief through any teaching. A great example of this is the people who flew those planes into the twin towers. There’s no doubt whatsoever in my mind that those people had strong faith in what they believe and that what they were doing was the right thing to do. Those people have been taught that since they were born! That’s the reason why they are so dangerous!
As to your question: How can faith assure a person that their individual beliefs are correct? Faith alone can’t do that, because a person can have faith in false teaching. To ensure that what a person believes is correct, that is, correct as far as God is concerned, each individual must read and study His word. In other words, you go to the Book for the answer. That is the only way to know if what you believe in is correct or not.

Well laid out I give you that.
An individual at times gets what might be called inside info, (near death, vision, some other revelation) that will strengthen or even weaken faith.
for those it strengthens there faith becomes unshakable for the others they have to go somewhere else.
This can happen to A or B.
It is hinted at for Christians that to those that are not of the christian faith, (non believers) will have a revelation that will shake there faith, and give them a chance to become Christian.
Now from what I am aware of this is true to the point that if A or B which ever one has both positive for them Revs and negative Revs to others, may be the true Religion. A tip of the balance.
Read Daniel to see this at work

People have faith in a myriad of things, friend. I have faith that the chair I'm sitting on is well-constructed and that I'm not going to end up on floor any second now.
The most important aspect of faith is it's OBJECT. If I were sitting on a stack of shoeboxes arranged to look like a chair I could still believe really hard that it was going to hold me up and hit the floor just as hard.
Let's assume that Person A and Person B are boating and both have a life preserver. A and B each have faith that if the boat sinks their life preservers will keep them afloat. Person A has a high quality life preserver; Person B has one that is faulty and will sink like a rock. If the boat capsizes and they both get tossed in the water clinging to their life preservers, Person B, even with all his faith, will sink.
The question is WHO or WHAT are you placing your faith in not the mere absence or presence of faith.

I've asked this before. It's hard to get a straight answer because religion messes with people's minds and they have no idea what you mean that their way might be false, in many cases. But that's a good point, I'd also point out that so many systems are similar and seem to aim at getting more followers and that they all at one point in time stood to benefit from the more people following them, so religion is tainted and imperfect even if the god you believe in isn't. I'm an atheist myself.

I born and raise catholic and i felt pretty much that only my religion was true and other religions goes to hell. But i am now old enough to think so i study other religions to see their ideas. I was amaze to find the that buddhism are allow to have anny religion as much as they want and belive that all religions are true and does brings goods to humans. I study more of buddhism and became one. But my family kick me out because i was into another faith. My point is that we cant say which is a better religion just because we are born into it. We are not children to follow what is blinding us. People have right to expand their minds so i did it. And now all i need is my life back(my family). PS i m sorry if i offended anny one in anny way.

Faith is different than Truth. I mean ultimate Truth.
You are correct in stating that two people both of faith can not logically possess ultimate Truth (which is God). That is why relative true is by logic a lie.
Truth stands alone.
So all people must contemplate Truth and share in the fruits of this contemplation.

It is by Grace through Faith that we are saved!
Anyone can have faith in anything but it still does not mean that it is correct! That is why the Grace of God is so important to the equation of Faith!
Grace= God's Riches At Christ Expense!

I put my faith in a process of converging upon a model of self and world made up of truth and myth that best produces happiness and good health. The goal being to live a happy and healthy life regardless of whether of not the reality I fashion in my mind is or is not an accurate model of the actuality of self and world.
I interest myself in truth and knowledge based on scientifically reproducible discovery that produces the most powerful physiological responses of good health possible. I interest myself in myth and fantasy based on mystery that produces the most powerful emotional responses of joy, faith and love imaginable. I am the truth seeker. I am the myth maker. I am the high ideologue of the house of ideology that I build in my mind to orient myself towards existence and explain existence to myself. For these reasons, I think, believe and expect that my divine eternal soul rides my fractal infernal temporal seed body, gets inside my mind and guides my thoughts, beliefs, and expectations to a model of self and world that is true.
Some have attempted to unite all minds under one way of ornamenting a model of self and world with myth. Those who claim to belong to a spiritual community of faithful believers worshiping exactly the same spirit delude themselves. Seminal religious organizations fracture into denominations, variations, combinations and permutations, because no two individuals, no two communities of faithful believers, no two ideological authorities, no two denominations have exactly the same way of ornamenting a model of self and world with myth. Rather than seeking to compel all to unite under one model of self and world, I will advocate diversity, variety, and freedom of expression.

Every person has the right to believe in wathever they want. And if that religion in particular gives them some sort of faith and makes them a better person because of it, then let them believe in whatever they want.
