go somewhere fun, that way if your date is a loser then you had fun anyways... zoo is good, or how about 6 flags or something, a concert, or go to the city.... go somewhere so you can talk, with dinner you have food in your mouth and a movie is cheap not only that your talking and getting to know each other but your more worried if you should hold hands or something like that than the movie it self

A movie is actually a perfect first date, escpecially if you don't know the person really well. You don't have to struggle with coming up with something to say (no talking in the movie) and then when you go out for coffee or drinks or whatever afterwards you DO have something to talk about - the movie. It's genius.

If you are really deadset about going to a movie, try the zoo or a museum of some kind - that gives you stuff to talk about on a constant basis. It doesn't have to be a boring museum - there are tons of fun ones around.

Try suggesting somewhere you know the other person will be interested in, that way it'll show consideration on your part. Or more generally maybe a picnic in the park, or a quiet pub in the evening - somewhere where you can talk and get to know each other but there are still other people around so you don't feel the pressure of it being just the two of you.

I am not sur what's available where you live, but you might try a comedy club. You'll get a few laughs together, and have something to talk about later, over coffee and pie.....or drinks at a jazz club.....great conversation and great music that's not too loud so you don't have to yell at each other.....or take your digital camera and your date to the zoo, and practice lining up shots in front of the animal cages and other funy photos, then go to your computer and print or post them......or go to the casino with yourdate and get a kiss from her for luck......or take her to a dinner theater, or swing dancing, or mini-golfing, or to a fair, or to grill out at a park, or to a tall building so you two can launch waterballoons off of, or fishing (if she doesn't like fish, teach her to skip rocks), or to the gym to play recketball or table tennis....
Watch Blind Date if you want to get some cool date ideas about where to go and what to do. Movies are cool, but I personally cannot go that long without talking to someone I like.....

your first date with a person is your first impressions and your opportunity to bond.

you definitely need to talk, so some where quietish!
not a noisy pub or the cinema.

my first date with my gorgeous guy was a pub but we sat in a quieter room than where the entertainment were.
we talked about all sorts of stuff and i think if we had gone somewhere that we couldn't have talked i may not have had that first glimpse into his personality and i may not have seen him again.

where ever you decide to go, good luck, hope you make it a great date.

I'd go for an outdoor date: a park, a fair, along a river, to a concert in a park. I'd say the simpler it is, the better.
As a teenager the cinema thing is acceptable, when you get older it is IMPOSSIBLE.

dont go to the cinema your right you cant talk there. dinner, walk down beach, funfair, arcades, pub. picnic (that would take some planning). either way most important thing is to have fun and chat. good luck

the movies or somewhere where you can just talk it really depends on what you like and what he likes. For a first date maybe out to eat or something just so you can talk and get to know eachother a little bit better

Go for a drive and chill out in a place neither of you have ever been before, will be more memorable that way.
