Sounds like a good definition to me.

Thank you so much sassy pantz for the rip-roaring insult. You want proof of faith, how about this one. A little boy has asthma so bad he can barely breath, is prayed for and has not had an asthma attack in a year. He lives in the same place with the same allergens. How about this one, a woman can not walk, she is prayed for and she walks. How about this one, a family is without food, they leave, lock the doors and come home to find 4 boxes of groceries on the table, all because someone prayed. Faith is something hoped for until it materializes. Then it is no longer faith but fact. How about this one, a man walks into church wearing oxygen and walks out carrying the mask and tank. Saying Praise the Lord I have a new set of lungs and I can breathe again. I have lived my whole life through on faith, still do and always will. The Lord is my comfort and stay. People that have faith with no doubt will see great things through the Lord. Otherwise, you have faith with doubt, so where is the faith. If you want more proof ask again and I have much more.

Faith is the belief in something that can not be completely proved entirely.
An example would be the concept of Love. We know the actions that lead to love, but can never scientifically prove the existence of human love.
By faith and experience we no it is real.

Therein lies the rub. Faith is indeed a firm belief in something that is unprovable one way or the other. Which is why I relegate the concept of God to the same arena as Zeus, Ra, and the Invisible Pink Unicorn.

Do you have faith that your car is going to start when next you get in it ? Do you have faith that you are eventually going to leave this plane of existence and that your mother loves you? If so I challenge you to prove that these assumptions are correct-do you have the faith that you can do that?

You started out with a good question, but the little follow up paragraph is just disappointing.
Faith is tested hope. Blind faith is superstition. You can't have faith in something until you've tried it and found it to be of substance. That's why evolution is a superstitious faith, there's no substance, just narrow-minded opinions about failed hypothesis.

Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the assured expectation of the things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld. Hebrews 11:6 Moreover, without faith it is impossible to please him well, for he that approaches God must believe that he is and that he becomes the rewarder of those earnestly seeking him.

The greek word for belief is pisteuon (John 3:16) & it can be translated to believe in, to put trust in, to have faith in. So faith can include all these things.
I put my faith in a God I haven't seen, but know He is there.

how silly is that question......faith is real and it is something one feels deep inside of ones self....I have faith in my God.....I know that I know he is real.....
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. it is The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd.
my faith is proved for me over and over again every day as I walk in the ways God hascalled me to walk ....Jesus is Lord....

I'm paraphrasing, "Faith is the evidence of thing not seen, the substance of things hoped for", or something like that.
