George? No. Dean! Democrats Need a New Mantra

An Associated Press story on April 21, 2004 quoted former presidential candidate, Howard Dean as saying that, "a vote for Ralph Nader is the same as a vote for George Bush." Governor Dean is the former governor of my home state of Vermont. How Howard Dean ever became known as a "progressive" or being left-of-center is a mystery to many Vermonters.

I've heard the quote many times I think it's a primarily a political expression to get people to join a particular ideology.

Unfortunately, this quote is too broad to be attributed to any one person. It's not hard to imagine that several different people said it several different times throughout human history without having heard it anywhere before.
