Hi guys.

For any of you teachers that are from the UK can you tell me if you are able to send & receive text messages from home while using a Korean phone?

I have heard stories that since South Korea uses a different technology with mobiles from pretty much the rest of the world, it cannot connect to the UK networks and technology and therefore is unable to receive text messages sent from the UK.

Is this true or a misunderstanding?

Thanks all!

Yes, you can send and receive SMS messages to / from phones in the UK ( 3G or GSM network). Koreans use CDMA technology and that have limitations in roaming with GSM networks; but now with 3G services, you can use your UK phone too, but that will cost a fortune.

From my experience, noone I know from the UK can send or receive sms messages with their phone in Korea. I certainly can't. My friends from the states can, but they can also use their Korean phones when they go home. I think for pretty much everywhere else; UK, Aussie, Kiwi, S. Africa etc the phone companies are not compatible. You can make calls no problem, but the SMS wont send - but you WILL be charged for trying so if I were you I wouldn't bother!

Yes you can, however it depends on your phone. For example , I had a phone last year that wouldn't accept more than the average amount of numbers (i.e xxx-xxx-xxxx) ...so it was impossible to text message anywhere else because you couldn't but in the country code AND the + symbol. I recently had a phone that would accept both symbols and an unlimited amount of numbers. ...check around and check out the texting service on a couple of phones before you buy ..and remember that you will need to enter +001 (include the + sign) AND the country code before the number..GOOD LUCK!

a lot of those promotions are all unsolicited mail. in case you probably did not enter the lottery, how are you able to in all probability win. those come from throughout, from kinfolk individuals you have in no way prevalent, who've kicked the bucket and the executors are finding to bypass you funds, to the human beings who're funds laundering, attempting to get $$$ to the U. S.. The hyperlinks for you to click are fraudulent, probable laying a cookie to song some thing of yours. word of warning - do not respond, delete the mail, that's unsolicited mail, that's fraudulet and to not be depended on.
