This party is for my nephew and and his fiance and my sister and mother are in a tizzy about giving them a gift.

Yes, it is proper to bring a gift. However, if finances are an issue, it is certainly appropriate to purchase 2 small presents (one for the engagement and one for the wedding) so that you end up spending the same as you would if you just bought a wedding present.

A fun gift suggestion for a couple is a big popcorn bowl, box of microwave popcorn, candy, sodas or beer, and movie rental gift card. It's fun, and is something that will always be used.

You are supposed to bring a gift to any kind of party you are invited to. Where it be requested or not, it shows good manners on your part.

yes, always bring something, then at the wedding you bring another,usually off the registry. its can be a expensive time for family that goes to all party's
