Two suggestions:
Bukkit Tinggi in Northern Sumatra, they still have horse drawn wagons working as taxis.
Ubud in Bali. Center of Bali, great area for exploring. And traditional Bali dance shows every evening.

Ubud, absolutely. And Jogakarta, the cultural center of Java. You can visit the temple of Borobudur nearby Joga, as well.
