They will shine their flash light in to your eyes to see if they dilate. If you look like you have a "buzz on" they will search your vehicle for drugs or alcohol. If you are a minority and you live in the wrong state you could end up getting beaten to a near death for opening up your mouth. So the best thing is to just keep your mouth shut and avoid drinking while you are driving. I know it is difficult for young people because I used to love to pop open a bottle of beer on the way up to my fishing spots. But one day I almost nailed a deer and it was a wake up call. Drinking alcohol is a waste of time and it ruins your life when it is abused.

If I find an open bottle I will usually open it to check the smell for alcoholic beverages...lots of times I have found the rum and coke mixed up...

Normally no, unless they suspect someone of drinking. Also law enforcement can search any vehicle without a warrant as long as they have probable cause.

It would be impossible to ask every police officer in the country what they'd do. It depends on the stop too. Did you give them a reason to check it? Sounds to me...mmmmm...yeah.

If they're suspicious enough. If they actually have a reason to search your car... and you're a bunch of kids... they probably will. Don't risk it

I have never had my car searched... They would need probable cause to do that though.
