I've checked the Locks of Love website and they no longer list the salons that donate hair and I'm trying to find salons in Michigan so I can donate my hair but I don't know where to look. I know my hair is more than long enough, please help.

Nope, unfortunately. You should call the salon you want to go to and ask if they will cut it & send it to Locks of Love for you. Some salons will cut your hair, but then have you send it in an envelope to Locks of Love, others will do it all for you, and some don't do anything for Locks of Love. Good for you for being so generous & donating your hair to a wonderful organization!

I did this a few years back. Many salons do this type of thing, they just don't advertise it. All you need to do is call the salon of your choice and ask them if they do haircuts for free for those who want to donate their hair to locks of love. You'll find one close to you.

I just recently had 12 inches cut off my own hair and have it in a braid & am getting ready to mail it to Locks of Love. If there is not a salon that specifically works with Locks of Love in your area you can go to your local salon, take along the requirements listing you can print out from Locks of Love's website and a couple of plain hair ties or rubber bands. Have them wash your hair, & dry it then braid it using a rubber band at the top & bottom, then they can just cut the braid off & you can then have them cut & style your new do however you like. When you go make sure that you take a clean ziplock bag to carry your braid home in. At the post office you can get one of their padded envelopes to mail your braid directly to Locks of Love. According to their website you have the option of including before & after photos that they'll post on their website once they receive and process your donation. There's a special form you can print out & complete to send for recording your donation. On a side note, I let the braid sit in the ziplock bag (unsealed) for a few days to make sure it was completely dry before I send it out.
You can also call their toll free # to ask any further questions, I got this from their contact page:

If you have a Fantastic Sam's in your neighborhood, they do it at all of those. Otherwise, you can just print out the directions and have it done at any salon and send it in yourself.
Good luck!

(by the way, Locks of Love is NOT for Cancer patients, it is for children that have a certain disease that makes their hair fall out. I'm just telling you that because someone suggested you call a Cancer Center)

hmm.
You could always try donating it yourself.
Tell your stylist that you need it cut while it's in a pony tail.
Then you save it, put it in a big envelope and mail it there.
It has to be at least 9 inches I'm pretty sure

What we did with my daughter's long, long hair is just braid it and cut it and mailed it ourselves to them. Another friend did the same thing. If you want a salon to wash your hair, dry it, braid it and cut it, you can save the braid and mail it. Find out if that is ok with the organization.
