Properly maintained cars driven by just one driver lots of miles daily some times see over 400,000 miles. And today's cars commonly see 150,000 miles with out engine repair. Shocks tie rod ends ball joints should be inspected so your car drives great to. Your milage may vary!

I've had 3 all standard transmission (I believe it makes a big difference):
2000 VW Golf GLS turned 163,000 yesterday;
1995 VW Golf GL died with 240,000+ miles on it;
1987 VW Golf GL traded it in with 180,000+ miles on it.
GREAT, fun reliable cars. Highly recommended

average mileage for a car per year is 13000 miles, so yours is below average,!!its not so much the engine blowing up now days its the rest of the car, like brakes, bodywork, and various things, dont thrash your engine, check your oil and water and you will get thousands of more miles out of your engine,!!!
