You look at a map, and see the continent of South America, Central American and a few island in Antilles and all of them have different countries populated with different latinamericans from different colors, flavors and cultures.

Why people classify them as one like if they were from the same place. You would be surprise at the differences in culture each have with one and the other.

You should travel more or pick up a book.

Oh, Believe me I have traveled, even to your country.

And the question about the official dish was a joke. Some girl even told me she ate skittles everyday.

You are a bunch of hypocrites, you criticize your immigrants but when it comes to defending your country you defend the immigrants as well.

Again YOUR ignorance shines through. First of all, you're right, I know nothing about your culture, as I don't even know where it is you are from. Are you from a South American country? a Central American country? One of the islands? and which ever region, which country? which city? are you coastal or inland? Just as each of these geographic locations differ, the individual states and even their individual towns/cities of the USA differ. Just because you learned a little about each state's history (like how it was acquired, and then became part of the US and on which date, you might even know the capitals and possibly some of the more famous leaders of each state), does not mean you know anything about the culture(s) residing in each state currently. To actually understand each location's diversity you would probably have to immerse yourself in to that culture for an extended period of time. Just like anyone learning about your country would have to do. Do not assume that just because you learned about any particular state for a day, means you know anything about it's people, or that its people don't know anything about you and your people. Perhaps you should travel some more as well.

You've answered why it is so hard for the average american to differentiate between LatinAmerican peoples: the average american only has exposure to Mexicans and Puerto Ricans, if even that many. I've spent alot of time around Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese people. I can tell the difference in the three by sight. But I haven't spent as much time with Salvadorans, Nicaraguans, and Hondurans, so Ican't tell the difference between those three as easy.

I have to laugh at your question. You are slamming people for thinking that South America, Central America, and the various island nations are one, yet you asked a question about "why don't Americans have an official dish?" Seems like you have to learn a little bit about diversity also.

I think, my dear, that YOU should also travel more and pick up a book, or you will continue to get some of these rude answers that seem to upset you. You bring it on yourself.

And no, we do not think that South and Central America are the same, that's where you are wrong.

It's funny to hear you calling people "racist bigots" because you certainly seem to be that yourself.

If you can get beyond your prejudice , you will discover that there is a biological basis to it: People have trouble distinguishing between members of ethnic groups they are not intimately familiar with.
If I placed you in a room full of Northern Europeans ; you would have the same difficulty distinguishing between , the English the Germans the Danes , the Welsh and the Scots. I could do the same thing with the North Africans and you would fail just as badly.

no longer besides as we are able to between English accents in assorted areas of the U. S., yet, yeah, it somewhat is conceivable. I discovered my Spanish residing in Mexico and Spanish audio gadget from worldwide places different than Mexico %. up on my "Mexican" accessory top away. I actually have a problematic time distinguishing Venezuelan from Mexican, yet Cuban and Puerto Rican Spanish are somewhat known. the single that is maximum obvious to me is Argentine Spanish. Their "s" looks quite aspirated to me, basically approximately like they do no longer thoroughly sort the sound earlier ending up the interest. yet, it is likewise very fantastically articulated and there are very diffused nuances of Italian and Continental Spanish jumbled in. a minimum of, that's how I hear it. After some years of working with interior of reach Mexicans, i'm able to tell if a Mexican is from correct Mexico (arribeno) or from the Gulf section (costeno). And, those from Yucatan have a diverse and slower way of speech. Nortenos tend to have an excellent sort of English cognates jumbled in with their vocabulary. i think of accents and dialects are somewhat cool.

Most Americans, I'm sure, will maybe only meet a handful of people from those countries so it would be difficult for them to learn about each ones culture and background. Sorry if any American has offended you.

Why do you classify all US residents the same? BTW South American is generally not considered Latin America.

Thank you my bf is from El Salvador and most ppl I meet ask why I date a Mexican. Some ppl are so small minded. It pisses me off. Even the local grocery stores have a Mexican food isle and I asked the manager why they did not call it international isle. He looked at me like I was the crazy one.

I can tell the difference... Most mexicans are from the hills (inbred) and they are usually short and stumpy vs South Americans who have a normal body size... mexicans are usually ugly while the South American are some of the most beautiful women on earth!
