No, of course not. Christian belief states that as long as you repent for your sins and accept Christ as your savior, you can be saved.

I have no idea how simply reading the Harry Potter books can even be construed as sinful. No one is worshipping them; they're admitted works of fiction. In fact, many of the ideas in the book are Christian. Dumbledore would make an ideal Christian with his actions of nonviolence and self-sacrifice.

And yes, the current Pope (Benedict XVI) supposedly condemned Harry Potter. However, what he actually said is hardly condemning: "It is good, that you enlighten people about Harry Potter, because those are subtle seductions, which act unnoticed and by this deeply distort Christianity in the soul, before it can grow properly."

Basically, he thought that the books could turn a not-so-devout Christian into a non-Christian. Maybe so, but if someone's already on the fence, many things could have the same effect. Also, it's worth mentioning that he wrote this in a letter before he was the Pope. He could have read the books in the interim and changed his mind. As of late, he has been silent on the subject.

On the other hand, the late Pope (John Paul II) praised the Harry Potter books, largely for the same reasons I have. A spokesperson for John Paul II said, "They help children to tell the difference between good and evil."

So which Pope should we believe? It's my belief that Pope John Paul II was right and that the books are good.

That is the opinion of some fundementalist Christians. To my knowledge the Pope did not condemn Harry Potter. That would be stupid. Plus, only about 1/3 of the world is Christian and Hell is a Christian belief. Not everyone believes as such.

If the Harry Potter sequence is all you could concentration on, you're destined to wanting to get a existence. The Harry Potter books are escapist, relaxing, delusion, something to stretch a baby's (and adult's) mind's eye. i don't believe of any unusual religious cult or devil worshippers are going to effect from the booklet of those books. i could be waaay more effective worried with each of the wars and intolerance contained in the international.

If they are destined for hell, what about children who are taught to believe in Santa. Both use magic, however kids don't really believe that Harry Potter is real, but the do really believe Santa is real.

first of all, everyone not saved by the Son of God is condemned to hell. The only way to be saved from this is to ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins, believe that he was born of a virgin mother, lived a perfect and sinless life, died on the cross for everyone, and rose again on the 3rd day. Second of all, just because u sin after ur saved doesnt mean ur condemned to hell again. Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice by dying for us, and once ur saved u cant lose ur salvation. Thirdly, if ur saved, associating yourself with something cant condemn u to hell.

noooo!

you getting to heaven or hell is not based on what you do in life.

The soul basis is if you believe in Jesus you will go to heaven.

ps. They don't believe in these stories, she just wrote them, and they just published them, and made them into movies because they are entertaining. The harry potter series started out as a way to keep her kids quite and settle them down when needed.

Oh good grief! Stop asking if people are destined for hell! No, J.K. Rowling and cast are NOT destined for hell. God gave us imagination, and talent, and there is nothing wrong with it! Do actors who play murderers and rapists go to hell? No! No one suffers hell unless they refuse God!

OMG!! Why is this such a BIG DEAL, I mean, my GOODNESS, I believe in God, and yet I watch the Harry Potter movies. THEY ARE FICTION...FICTION...FICTION...FICTION...FICTION...FICTION...Do I need to go on? If anyone who condemns them without reading one, they don't really deserve to be listened to.
The books again are FICTION, and they DO NOT give step by step instructions on how to become a Satan Worshiper...Again...I can not express this enough...THEY ARE FICTION!!
In fact, everything that the Harry Potter movies and books are about is good versus evil. Isn't that what our life versus Satan is all about?
OH MY GOODNESS...people need to grow up...give me a break!!

If any of the individuals you mention commit their lives to Jesus Christ they are not destined for hell.

For a brief explanation of the gospel (of salvation through Jesus Christ), see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

Cordially,
